Poker clubs in Vietnam and Koreahave been busy all year with live events running nonstop in the big cities. Over in the Philippines, it is no different with the local scene stirred up by heavy prize pools offered by the Metro Card Club. As pioneers of the industry in the country, the Metro, as is commonly called, returns this month with another big festival. Coming up in a few days is the 8th edition of the RVS Cup Philippine Poker Championship which runs from November 4 to 14, 2022.

The RVS Cup is one of the most anticipated homegrown events of the year. It draws local enthusiasts of all levels to the felt to seek out the prestigious title. This year’s Main Event edition will see a boosted ₱6,000,000 (~$103,000) guarantee which is ₱1 Million more than its past offerings. To enter, buy in is just ₱11,000 (~$190) with multiple entries allowed. To ensure everyone a chance at the pot, four starting days are offered plus a turbo flight. The event runs from November 9 to 14. Past winners include Lester Edoc, Richard Marquez, Marco Almerez, and in 2019, Jeffrey Calma.

During the early days, the lineup is filled with side events. Players can sharpen their skills at the Pre-Event 600K (~$10,300) GTD which runs from November 4 to 6 with three starting heats to find one’s way into the final day. Buy in is a lowly ₱2,750 (~$48) with multiple re-entries allowed. Another guaranteed side event is the NLHE ₱300K (~$5,150) which runs on Tuesday, November 8, the day before the big game.

A new addition to the annual menu is the invitational High Rollers Heads Up Challenge Elimination which is currently ongoing with the final matches taking place on November 14. This is the only high roller event offered. Buy in is ₱33,000 (~$570).

Reviewing the rest of the schedule, it is a mixed bag of games with buy ins of ₱3,300 (~$57) and ₱5,500 (~$95). Indulge in the Turbos, Mixed Game NLHE/PLO, Bounty events – which includes a Mystery Bounty -, Power Button, and on the final day, the Mini Main.

Make sure to join as many of these events as the RVS Cup will also be awarding a Player of the Series title. The more points earned, the higher the chances of becoming this year’s winner.
