Okada Manila Millions underway at PokerStars LIVE Manila; games running from January 3 to 9
Crack those knuckles and bring on your A-game, it’s time for some live tournament action in the Philippines. After nearly two years, the much awaited Okada Manila Millions has returned with games currently underway at PokerStars LIVE Manila. Festivities kicked off today, January 3, and will run for seven days, concluding on January 9. This is the country’s first live festival of the 2022 calendar season and it is certainly good news for the local poker community that just days prior wasn’t sure if the event was pushing through. Recent surge in Covid-19 cases during the holidays prompted the government to tighten regulations, however, select gaming establishments such as Okada Manila have been given the green light by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
The festival serves up fifteen events which means fifteen of those iconic Spadie trophies are up for grabs. Buy ins range from ₱ 2,500 (~US$ 50) to ₱ 25,000 (~US$ 500) NLH Megastack Freezeout. Highlighting the series is the ₱ 3,000,000 (~US$ 58,780) guaranteed Main Event with buy in at a very affordable ₱ 3,500 (~US$ 69). Closing out the series is the NLH Superstack featuring a ₱ 500,000 guarantee (~US$ 9,800) and a special Satellite Tournament to the APPT Open Manila Main Event.
For those interested in participating, proof of vaccination is required i.e. vaccination card or Vax Certificate, and an Okada membership card. All tables will be 8-max. Only active players, staff, and media will be allowed on the tournament floor.
At 3pm local time, cards were flying for the Kickoff Event featuring a ₱ 300,000 (~US$ 5,900) guarantee. Buy in is ₱ 3,000 (~US$ 59) with unlimited re-entries. Also running on opening day is Main Event Day 1A, and at 9pm is the ₱ 10,000 (~US$ 200) NLH Knockout Turbo Bounty Freezeout.
