Dao Minh Phu claims second career USOP trophy at High Roller 6 Max
Dao Minh Phu

The first winner to be crowned at Day 7 of the U Series of Poker games was of no surprise with Vietnam’s #1 All Time Money Lister, Dao Minh Phu, claiming the top spot. The local pro came in with the lead across the High Roller 6 Max Event final table and went on to close it out just three hours later. Dao holds down over $3.6 Million in winnings according to The Hendon Mob, with his $1.67 Million victory at last year’s Triton Super High Roller series remaining his best cash.

Final Table Recap

Having delivered the final table bubble across Day 1 of the High Roller 6 Max EventVietnamese star Dao Minh Phu entered today’s final table games with a commanding lead over the remaining seven. Action began with an elimination right off the bat with Malaysia’s Victor Chong barely holding on with his three big blind stack. Fellow short stacked Le Ngoc Minh followed suit just moments later, leaving five players in contention for the title by the first level.

Play dragged on for over two more hours before Australia’s William Jia lost a flip against Nguyen Khoi for his tournament life, to crash in 5th place finish. Down to four local players, Pham Thanh Nghia found himself amongst the shortest and eventually committed his last ten big blinds with A4 against aggressive Dao’s K9. Whilst slightly ahead, Dao’s momentum failed to falter, running a full house on board 32KK9 to knock his opponent out.

Following Pham’s exit, the three remaining players quickly struck an ICM deal, securing Dao the largest payout of VN₫ 1,321,935,010, and each guaranteed at least VN₫ 1.1 Billion in cashes. Unrelentless, Dao went on to knock Nguyen Trung Chien in third place, earning him a 3:1 advantage onto heads up play. Ten minutes was all it took for Dao to clinch the title with the final hand seeing Nguyen Khoi commit his entire 27 big blind stack with KQ against Dao’s J4. Once again, board 4J725 ran in favor of Dao with his two pair more than good enough to win him his second career USOP trophy, and Khoi to settle for a runner up finish.
