The Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP) has come a long way since its humble beginnings of just two tables at the night market, evolving into the Asia Poker Arena, the largest brick-and-mortar poker room in the region. This year has witnessed an explosive surge in CTP’s popularity, with a significant increase in local players, international players, and organizers flocking to its doors in Taipei, Taiwan.
Today marks a special moment as the club celebrates its 8th year in the business. To commemorate the occasion, CTP has lined up an eleven-day schedule filled with crowd favorites running from September 14 to 24, 2023.
To add to the excitement, a total of 9 trophies are up for grabs and NTD 12,000,000 (~USD 376K) in combined guarantees. Buy ins are very affordable, ranging from NTD 1,500 (~USD 47) to NTD 6,000 (~USD 188) The festival is currently underway. Here’s a list of the festival’s marquee tournaments:

8th Special Event – underway
The festivities opened earlier today with the 8th Anniversary Series Special Event – NTD 2,000,000 (~USD 62,700) guarantee. A unique trophy was designed for the champion of this special event (pictured above). A total of six entry flights is offered – Day 1A – Day 1F – running from September 14 to 16. All the Day 1 survivors then merge on September 17 for the final title chase. Buy in is NTD 1,500 (~USD 47).

Main Event – NTD 12,000,000 guarantee
The Main Event boasts the most substantial guarantee, with an impressive NTD 5,000,000 (~USD 156,740) for a buy in of just NTD 5,000 (~USD 157) . In the previous year, this event attracted 1,581 entries for a prize pool of nearly USD 200K. Hong Kong’s Lok Ming Chan won it for a payout of NTD 1,200,000 (~USD 37,800).
Just two months ago, CTP homegrown Taiwan Millions Tournament garnered a colossal 3,485 entries. With that kind of momentum, it’s a safe bet that the poker room will be filled to capacity on each entry day for the Main Event, especially since it marks the event’s inaugural run at the Asia Poker Arena.

For first timers to the CTP, the venue – Asia Poker Arena – is easy to find on your phone Maps. Once you get to the venue, registration is automated for a fast and efficient experience to the felt. The room accepts the local currency New Taiwan Dollar as well as other international currencies – US dollar, Japanese Yen, and Euro.
For newcomers, Taipei city is pedestrian friendly with plenty of choices for getting to where you need to be. City bikes and scooters can be rented. Buses, taxis, and uber are available. Trains are also highly efficient with stops all over the city, even from the airport.
For accommodations, there are many choices in the vicinity of the Asia Poker Arena and for any type of budget.
