Poker is a game of skill and fun, but unfortunately, a few people try to spoil it for everyone else. Recently, at The Lodge Card Cluba well-known Texas poker room co-owned by Doug Polk in Round Rock, two men were caught trying to cheat the system. Thanks to an alert player, they are now permanently banned.

How They Were Caught at the Texas Poker Room

The drama started when a poker vlogger named Anthony Martino sat down at a nearby table. He recognized two players, Norberto Pardo and Yaiquel Mosqueda-Perez, from his time playing in Florida. Martino knew that these men were already banned from several other cardrooms for suspicious behavior.

Martino immediately told the staff. The house took the deck from the $1/$2/$5 Pot-Limit Omaha game the men were playing in for a quick inspection. The result? The cards had been marked!

A History of Cheating

It turns out these two have been at this for a long time. Martino first saw them in 2020 at a casino in Tampa. He noticed they had a very specific “routine”:

  • They always sat in specific seats (diagonal from each other).
  • They would even pay other players to move so they could get their preferred spots.
  • Once in position, they would use secret signals and “trap” other players between them to win big pots.

Beyond Texas and Florida, rumors suggest these two have also been banned from rooms in California, Iowa, and Illinois. It seems they move from state to state whenever they get caught.

The Lodge Card Club acted quickly to protect its players, issuing a permanent ban to both men. This story is a great reminder for all of us: if you see something that doesn’t feel right at the table, don’t be afraid to speak up!

Martino’s goal in sharing this story is to make sure these cheaters have nowhere left to go. By staying alert, the poker community can keep the game fair and fun for everyone.
