Asian Poker Tour bursting at the seams in Phu Quoc, Vietnam – March 24 to April 2
An overflow of poker players from around the world have descended and continue to descend upon the gorgeous shores of Phu Quoc, Vietnam for the return of the Asian Poker Tour. The ten-day series kicked off on March 24 at the Corona Casino & Resort and runs through April 2.
The festival opened with 37 event trophies on the mantle, and during the past three days several players have already snatched one up such as Quan Trung Nguyen (Vietnam), Nobuaki Sasaki (Japan), Min Ho Cho (Korea), and Worawat Kiatpnglap (Thailand).Ahmed Ibrahim (Morocco) emerged as the first player to claim two trophies.
Today marks the first day of the Main Event which features a ₫10 Billion (~US$ 425,350) guarantee. This is an ambitious offering seeing that last year, the event paid out just over ₫5.4 Billion. Good news to locals, with the festival now taking place at the Sapphire Conference Hall (and not inside the casino), everyone is welcome to attend. With a full room witnessed the past few days, a massive turnout is expected. Buy in is ₫33,000,000 (~US$ 1,400).
Last year, Vietnam’s Hue Dang became the first ever APT Phu Quoc Main Event champion. You can bet she will be back to defend her title.
