Asian Poker Festival wraps up successful inaugural run in Hanoi; pays out ₫49 Billion (~$2.02M); Nguyen Quang Huy most cashes, Vietnam most trophies
Chinese brand Asian Poker Festival hosted its first event in Vietnam and it was a big hit! Running smoothly from December 7 to 13, 2023 at the Royal Poker Club in capital city Hanoi, locals and international players came to see what the newest brand had to offer. Due to the high demand, the weeklong event saw its 25-game lineup increase to 27 events. At the close, the inaugural festival paid out VN₫ 49 Billion, roughly equivalent to ~$2.02 Million, signifying a great start for the newcomer. Here are the highlights and figures.

Vietnam’s Minh Anh Nguyen was crowned the first ever APF Main Event champion after displaying stellar performance at every stage. Nguyen also walked away with VN₫ 2,680,000,000 (~$110,400) to claim the title of “biggest earner”. Read up on his win and interview via the link provided.

Most Cashes and Final Table Cashes – NGUYEN QUANG HUY
Local high roller Nguyen Quang Huy may not have won an event but he came close numerous times. Nguyen reached and cashed at the final table four times. He also monied at the Main Event for a total of five payouts, the most by any player. In total, Nguyen collected VN₫ 1,584,400,000 (~$65,270) in combined earnings making him the second largest earner of the series
Also needing acknowledgment is China’s He Yao Yu who came close to winning two titles but fell short by one spot in both. He finished 2nd at the added High Roller event for nearly ₫1.1 Billion and 2nd at the Super High Roller for ₫920M. He also finished 75th at the Main Event for a combined payout of VN₫ 2,056,000,000 (~$84,750) making him the second largest earner at the series.
VIETNAM wins most trophies
The locals took down nine of the 27 events including the coveted Main Event title to edge China in the trophy race. Not too bad though for the visitors as they proved to be a formidable force with seven trophies bagged. Here is the list of Vietnamese champions:
