Live event poker organizers are hoping to bring more to the table this year with several events announced in the Asia Pacific region. Here’s a look at what’s at your doorstep and on the near horizon.
Asian Poker Tour Mystery Bounty Weekend rescheduled for March 3 to 6
With Covid-19 cases at an all time high in the Philippines, land based poker organizer Asian Poker Tour announced the rescheduling of the first ever APT Mystery Bounty Weekend. Originally intended to take place from January 20 to 23 at Resorts World Manila, it would have been the brand’s full return to the live scene since March 2019. However, all is not lost, just delayed. The event has been moved to March 3 to 6.
Australian Poker Tour Season V Brisbane from January 17 to 23
Live action down under as the Australian Poker Tour returns to Brisbane for its first festival of the calendar year. Now in its fifth season, APT Brisbane 2022 opens today and will run for a full week from January 17 to 23 at Eatons Hill Hotel. A total of 28 events are scheduled highlighted by the Goliath and the Main Event, each one with a A$ 300,000 estimated prize pool. Adding more to the excitement, the state of Queensland just announced a lifting of all domestic border restrictions which means only one thing, everyone can now travel with ease to the festival. For players planning to attend, proof of double vaccination is required.
APT Season V Brisbane schedule
WPTDeepStacks Sydney announced for March 30 to April 11; WPT signs DJ Steve Aoki
The World Poker Tour is gearing up for a busy year with the first half schedule of Season XX recently released. Among the festivals lined up is WPTDeepsStacks Sydney slated for March 30 to April 11 at The Star Sydney. This will mark the tour’s first visit to the famous coastal metropolis. While the full list of games has yet to be revealed, the Main Event runs from April 7 to 11 with buy in of A$ 1,500.
Along with the upcoming events, the WPT also announced the signing of celebrity DJ Steve Aoki as its new brand ambassador. WPT CEO, Adam Pliska said,
“The passion and energy in which Steve Aoki approaches every aspect of his life is both inspiring and very much in line with the new vision of the WPT. Steve’s love of poker and his dedication to inspiring others to live life to the fullest makes him the ideal WPT brand ambassador. We are honored to have him play an active role in our transformation and in the celebration of World Poker Tour’s 20th anniversary.”
Triton Poker postpones Super High Roller Series Bali 2022
Grounded for a year and a half, world class Super High Roller events organizer, Triton Poker, hoped to get back on track with the announcement of a first time series in Bali, Indonesia. Intended to run from February 17 to March 1, the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series 2022 Bali – A Helping Hand for Charity featured a full roster of 12 Super High Roller tournaments however, due to a surge in Covid-19 cases, the highly anticipated event has been postponed.
To fill the void, the brand has teamed up with Super High Roller Series Russia to bring players the Triton Poker Sochi – Special Edition. The upcoming event takes place from March 1 to 6 at Casino Sochi.
