Among the attendees was newly crowned PokerStars Special Freeroll Event champion, Aldous Formanes who outlasted a field of 220 entries to clinch his first PS spadie. Included in his winnings was PHP 52,000 plus a coveted seat in the Main Event.
“This is a very big tournament for me, I only got the ticket from the Freeroll tournament, so until today I am on a freeroll. As a micro-stakes poker, my mindset was to play to bag the ITM. But, along the way, I felt that I got the edge on my early games, I adjusted my strategy, and played the way I am used to, play more aggressive, not to just get the ITM but to win.”
Riding high on his recent success, Formanes maintained his winning momentum. In the last two levels of regulation play, he knocked out multiple players, amassing a towering stack by bagging time. He has now set the bar very high for the upcoming flights.
