The APL Ho Chi Minh City Road Series Vol.3 hit the ground running today at Pro Poker Club with tables quickly filling up for Day 1C of the Main Event. As in the previous days, the locals dominated in numbers. Though many fell, successfully driving his stack to the forefront of the day’s 47 survivors was Dang Van Hien. Hien closed with 219,200 setting a new bar for the final starting day to come.

Another player high in the chip rung was Korea’s Alex Choi (Choi Young) with the second best stack of 171,900. To add in a bit of info on Choi, he finished 8th at the APL Road Series Vol.1 Philippines Main Event back in February.

In addition to the leaders, Asian circuit Main Event champions were well represented in the day’s final lineup namely Feng Zhao, Lim Yo Hwan, Sim Jae Kyung, Huu Dung Nguyen, Tzai Wei Phua, and Tetsuya Tsuchikawa. For the latter Tsuchikawa, he won his first-ever APT Main Event title at the Pro Poker Club just last month. He also has a WPT and PokerStars championship title under his belt and is looking to land his first APL.

Yin How Lew

The field was also graced by the APL Vietnam defending champion, Yin How Lew. Lew fired two bullets but was still denied a spot in Day 2. Other decorated players missing the mark were Linh Tran, Huy Pham, Hung Sheng Lin, andSJ Kim. Luckily there is still one more flight to get back in the game.

Players can also attempt for multiple stacks. According to the reports Vincent Li qualified in Day 1A and Day 1C. By the looks of it, both of his stacks were short. He can still attempt to bag a bigger one in the final heat.

Day 1D gets underway on Wednesday, November 21. With an overall total of 349 entries and many players still expected, it is likely that the VND 8 Billion Guaranteed prize pool will be surpassed. Buy-in is VND 16.5M. Cards in the air at 1pm local time.
