J88Poker Tour about to rock the vibrant Taiwanese poker scene

Poker continues to flourish in Taiwan with J88Poker set to host a six-day festival at CTP Club – Chinese Texas Hold’em Association – in Taipei City from March 29 to April 3. Last time this young tour showcased their brand of poker in Taiwan, they gathered both the largest crowd of over 360 runners and a record-breaking prize pool unseen in the country at the time. The tour returns once again and is indeed fired up ready to bring players another exciting festival with a much higher Main Event guarantee of NT$ 5 Million (~US$162,000) and a WSOP 2019 Main Event ticket to the winner.

The cat is definitely out of the bag. Taiwan is rapidly shaping up to be the hottest new poker destination in Asia. Last year, three international poker brands imprinted on the vibrant young market; this year looks to be even more promising with numerous international events already booked at the CTP Club.

One of the first ones to enter the Taiwan market was J88Poker. On December 2018, the young brand held their first-ever international festival on Taiwan soil. It was a massive success with over NT$ 6.2 Million in prizes at the Main Event.

Kicking off 2019, the trend continued. Players converged for the homegrown Taiwan Millions Tournament. This was then followed by a huge influx at the arrival of the Asian Poker Tour. 

Everything you should know about the J88Poker Tour

The J88Poker Tour gets underway starting March 29 and will run a course of six days to conclude on April 3. A total of 11 events are lined up highlighted by the Main Event – NT$ 5,000,000 (~US$161,780) guarantee. This edition of the Main Event will be a special one with the winner awarded a Main Event ticket to the WSOP 2019 (included in the prize pool) and a special-designed golden bracelet. The Main Event starts one day after kickoff. Buy-in is only NT$ 25,000 (~US$809).

Below are the days to enter:

  • Day 1A: Saturday, March 30
  • Day 1B: Sunday, March 31
  • Day 1C: Monday, April 1

It will be followed by Day 2 on Tuesday, April 2, and the Final Day on Wednesday, April 3.

Opening Day Events

Teams Event

Getting the games in motion, the festival opens with a special NT$ 60,000 buy-in Mixed Game – Teams Event. This is a three-day event starting on March 29. Only 24 teams will be accommodated. The previous installment saw 21 teams sign up for a hefty pot over NT$ 3.7M (~US$ 121,300). Winning it was a team from China pocketing half the prize pool.

Opening Event

While the Teams Event is in full swing, the Opening Event kicks off the evening action. This is a two-day event. Buy-in is NT$ 8,800 (~US$284).

Other Key Events

The rest of the days will see side events join the Main Event. Buy-ins range from NT$ 4,600 to NT$ 88,000. The high end is the High Roller event running for two days from April 2-3. Other events to look forward to are the Monster Stack, J88 Cup, and the No Limit Hold’em – Pair Event.

Qualify online for the J88Poker festival

As early as now, players can navigate their way to a Main Event ticket at a much lower cost or even for free by joining the J88Poker Online Satellites. Players can join any of the three stages below.

1. J88PT Taiwan Freeroll: This is a free satellite tournament to the qualifier. Win this and you’ve acquired a ticket to the J88PT Taiwan Qualifier. Three ₵1,100 tickets are guaranteed. These Freerolls are held every day at 19:30 (CST) Monday to Saturday and at 16:00 (CST) on Sunday.

2. J88PT Taiwan Qualifier: Buy-in is ₵1,100 crystals. The qualifier runs every day at 20:30(CST) Monday to Saturday and twice on Sunday at 17:45 (CST) and 18:30 (CST). Winners advance to the J88PT Taiwan Satellite.

3. J88PT Taiwan Satellite: Buy-in is ₵9,000 crystals. This satellite runs every Sunday at 20:30 (CST). One ticket guaranteed to the J88PT Main Event.
