I Am High Stakes Poker series gives its viewers a sneak peek into Winfred Yu’s journey to conquering the Asian live poker circuit

Featured on the Paul Phua Poker Youtube channel, the I Am High Stakes Poker series took off two years ago, allowing poker enthusiasts worldwide to tune in to their icons’ real life experiences. The previous episode showcased one of Asia’s fastest rising poker superstars Michael Soyza, who quickly rose up to fame after a series of outstanding accomplishments in just a span of three years.

For its latest episode, I Am High Stakes Poker once again featured a key figure in the Asian poker industry, Winfred Yu.

Winfred Yu has been active in the live poker circuit having worked closely with junket giant Suncity VIP club which hosts a total of 27 prime poker venues across Asia. President of the Poker King Club, Yu has organized major tournaments alongside leading operators such as the World Poker Tour as well as standalone series more known as the Poker King Cup. In the 43-minute interview, Yu shares with the poker community his journey dating back to when he first discovered the game of poker while living in Canada in his 20s. He highlights the numerous obstacles and difficulties he faced in his journey to becoming one of the poker industry’s most successful businessmen.

Aside from his triumphs in hosting high stakes games and popular tournaments, Yu is a respected poker player in his own right having amassed over $5.2 million in total live earnings. His first six figure score was when he placed second in Asian Poker Tour’s Main Event back in 2012 and followed it with two more notable scores for making a third place finish in the Aspers £100,000 High Roller and the WSOP-APAC Main Event. Just last year, Yu recorded his biggest live cash amounting to over $1.3 million for finishing eleventh place in the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in London.

The interesting interview concluded with Yu offering his wide fan base some advice on how to achieve overall success. Important tips that can be applied to people striving for the best, Yu reminds viewers to focus on themselves and to avoid comparing achievements with their peers. Similar with other episodes, I Am High Stakes Poker’s latest interview shares significant information for poker enthusiasts eager to reach the top level of the industry. The series not only serves as entertainment, but inspiration as well for poker amateurs all over the world.
