Chon Fong - Championship Warm Up Winner

For Chon Fong, the Championship Warm Up became a breakthrough comeback. Started Day 2 with just 6 big blinds, Fong battled through the field and eventually claimed his first tournament trophy.

The event drew 186 entries, creating an $89,280 prize pool, with 23 players paid. By the start of Day 2, 31 players remained, all chasing the $19,204 top prize and the $3,500 seat to the upcoming WPT Cambodia Championship, running from January 12 to February 2, 2027.

Chungik Lee - Bubble Boy

The Bubble Takes 30+ Hands

Before the final table could be reached, the tournament faced a marathon bubble. With 24 players left and 23 spots paid, the field played more than 30 hands of hand-for-hand before the bubble finally burst.

Chungik Lee became the sole bubble boy after getting his remaining chips in with pocket nines against Sven Dermott's ace-king. Dermott took the lead on the flop pairing his ace and held through the river, sending Lee out just short of the money.

Final Table Action

Once the money was reached, the final table quickly took shape as the remaining stacks began to collide. Rhys Jones was the first to go, finishing in ninth place, followed by Liang Hao Chen in eighth and Tawhidul Bhuiyan in seventh.

The eliminations continued to include some of the biggest stacks from earlier in the day. Dakota Anderson, who started Day 2 as the chip leader, saw his run end in sixth place. Sven Dermott, who had also spent much of the day near the top of the counts and played a key role in bursting the bubble, followed in fifth, while Hendrik Uibo finished in fourth place, leaving just three players in contention.

Three Way All-In

Three-handed play came down to Fong, Shuixiang Lai and Roman Altynikov.

Altynikov eventually found himself in a rare three-way all in against both opponents, with Fong holding pocket kings, Lai pocket sevens and Altynikov ace-ten. Fong's kings held for a massive triple-up, eliminating Altynikov in third place.

Heads-Up

Fong entered heads-up with a 2-to-1 chip lead, but Lai quickly turned things around and took control. Fong refused to let the match slip away, fighting back with a crucial double-up to keep the battle alive.

The two continued trading chips until the final hand.

Lai went all in on the turn, and Fong snap-called with his straight to eliminate Lai in second place.

That final call completed Fong’s incredible journey from one of the shortest stacks in the field to the last player standing.

A Breakthrough Victory

Fong’s victory marks his first tournament trophy, making the comeback even more memorable. After starting Day 2 with just 6 big blinds, he battled through the bubble, survived the final-table eliminations and eventually defeated Lai heads-up.

For his run, Fong takes home the $19,204 top prize and a $3,500 seat to the upcoming WPT Cambodia Championship.
