Linh Tran - $5K High Roller Winner

After more than 12 hours of intense play, the $5K High Roller at WPT Cambodia 2026 reached its thrilling conclusion. The event drew 69 entries and built a prize pool of $314,571, surpassing the $250,000 guarantee. Day 2 began with 28 players returning to the felt, all chasing the prestigious WPT title. Day 1 had initially drawn 47 entries, which grew to a total field of 69 entries after registration closed.

Bubble Time

The bubble phase lasted nearly two hours, highlighted by Daniel Neilson’s kings being cracked by Michel Molenaar on the soft bubble, setting off hand-for-hand play.

The bubble finally burst with a dramatic double elimination as Abhijith Cheruku and Hica Purba were sent home simultaneously in 11th place, splitting the $9,437 minimum payout. Kazuo Yamamoto was the last casualty before the final table, exiting in 10th place.

Final Table

The final table featured a star-studded lineup, led by chip leader Molenaar, with players like Linh Tran, Ngoc Anh Cao, and Keenan Pienaar in close contention. Won Chul Bae was eliminated in 9th place, followed by Aleksei Opalikhin in 8th and Minh Thang Tran in 7th.

Tran then executed a stunning double knockout, sending Ngoc Anh Cao and Michel Molenaar to the rail in 6th and 5th place, reshaping the chip counts dramatically. Ranno Sootla fell in 4th, and Keenan Pienaar exited in 3rd, leaving two players to battle for the title.

Heads Up

Heads-up play began with Lian holding a 2-to-1 chip lead over Tran. Lian initially applied pressure, but Tran fought back, winning key pots and eventually taking the chip lead with a flush. Lian attempted a comeback with a final shove, but Tran called with A♠ 7♠ against Lian’s Q♠ 9♣. The board ran J♥ 6♦ 6♠ A♣ K♦ , leaving Lian drawing dead and securing Tran’s victory.

Day 2 of the $5,000 High Roller gets underway today at 11:30 am local time, with the field trimmed to 28 players from 47 entries after a competitive opening day. With deep stacks, 40-minute blind levels, and a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool on the line, the stage is set for another action-packed day as the tournament moves closer to the money and the final table.

Late registration remains open for two more levels, giving players a final opportunity to enter the field before registration officially closes prior to the start of Level 14 at 1:00 pm. Once the field is locked, attention will fully shift to survival and stack building as the remaining players battle for position.

Ngoc Anh Cao leads the way heading into Day 2 with a commanding 592,500 stack, holding a sizable edge over his nearest challengers Xiang Eu and Tom Verbruggen.
