Ardi JayaIt was a great start to the day for Ardi Jaya.
Picking up 8♦ 8♥, Jaya eventually got the chips in on the river with the board reading 9♣ 5♣ 8♣ 3♦ 8♠, giving him quads.
Jaya needed that miracle eight on the river as his opponent flipped over 9♠ 9♦ for a rivered full house.
A brutal hand to start the day, but Jaya certainly won't mind!

WPT Australia 2026The Australian Poker Cup continues today at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Australia 2026 festival, with Day 1b getting underway at 2:30 p.m. local time inside the beautiful The Star Sydney. Another field of hopefuls will take their shot at securing a place in Day 2 of the festival's opening event.
The opening flight, Day 1a, drew a total of 107 entries, with just 19 players surviving the day's action. Eddy Hosni topped the chip counts with a staggering 731,000, while Ricardo Bono (644,000) and Sam Pantos (530,000) rounded out the podium positions.
Eddy HosniThe second of three starting flights follows the same structure as the opener, with players starting with 50,000 chips and blinds lasting 30 minutes throughout. Once again, the plan is to play through 16 levels, after which the surviving players will join those from the other flights for Day 2 on Sunday, September 13.
Players will receive a 15-minute break after every four levels, with a 45-minute dinner break scheduled after the completion of Level 8 at roughly 6:45 p.m. Registration remains open until the start of Level 13 at approximately 9:45 p.m., with unlimited re-entries permitted throughout.
