Roman Hrabec Takes Down the WPT Cambodia $20,000 Super High Roller for $277,779 after Heads-Up Chop
Roman Hrabec had a breakout year in 2024, cashing for over $9,000,000 in tournament earnings to put himself at number two on the Czech all time money list. Today Hrabec continued the red-hot streak he started last year with a victory in the World Poker Tour Cambodia $20,000 Super High Roller. Hrabec overcame a field of 52 entrants and last defeated Dominik Nitsche heads-up to take home the top prize of $277,779 after an ICM chop between the two players left only the trophy to play for.
Hrabec came into the table trailing Nitsche as the second-largest stack and was in control for most of the early parts of the final table. He faced adversity once play got short-handed, specifically after Yongjia Lin turned a set of nines to leave Hrabec short handed with three players remaining. Hrabec was not one to be deterred and did an admirable job making a comeback from that point with several well timed value bets.
After hitting a three-outer to send off Lin in third place Hrabec entered heads-up with nearly a 5:1 chip advantage over Nitsche. Early on in the duel Nitsche doubled up through Hrabec and won some additional pots to take the lead, but Hrabec took it right back with a double up of his own. Not long after the stacks were close toe ven and the two players agreed to an ICM chop. Hrabec then went on to win one last preflop race to take home the trophy in addition to the largest cash prize.
