Seniors Championship ($300)

Calvin Tan emerged victorious in this season's WPT Seniors Championship after overcoming a modest field of 40 entries, earning him $3,355 in cashes. A deal was set in place once the player pool narrowed down to three remaining, with the top three payouts shared evenly amongst Harry Cheatman and Neil Davidson.

Tan kicked off the final round middle of the pack and overtook the lead after eliminating both Rudolf Fourie (4th) and Michael Wood (5th) in quick succession. Play was halted following the bust, with Tan claiming the victory along with the coveted WPT trophy for his chip advantage.

"I feel good. I feel great! It's my first time winning the Seniors Event.", commented Tan in his post-match interview.

"It was a very fun final table. Everybody is very friendly and fun to play with."

Tan a huge favorite to win, had no problem dusting his opponent with top set on board A♣ J♥ 3♦ 8♠ T♠ .

Calvin Tan opened on the cutoff and called Michael Wood's 86,000 (14 BB) all-in on the big blind.

Wood in rough shape, missed to connect with board 8♥ A♦ Q♠ 3♦ 2♥ , ending his run in 5th place finish.

A limp pot blind vs blind between Harry Cheatman and Michael Wood dealt a flop of 9♣ J♠ Q♣ . Cheatman went for a check raise to 20,000 and Wood completed.

On turn J♥ , Cheatman checked once more to Wood, and faced another 20,500 bet from his opponent. Cheatman elected to just call this time around, and arrived at showdown shortly after Wood checked back river T♥ .

Cheatman showed two pair Q♦ 9♠ , good against Wood's T♠ 4♠ .

Neil Davidson has picked up three small pots in a row and stands above the 200K mark.

Harry Cheatham defended his big blind against Calvin Tan's 16,000 button open, and went to battle on flop 7♠ 8♣ 2♥ . Both players checked it through to turn A♠ , where Tan fired a bet of 15,000. Cheatham threw in the fold, shipping Tan another boost.

Neil Davidson min opened on the small blind and saw Calvin Tan complete.

On flop 7♣ 5♥ 8♦ , Davidson check called an 8,000 bet, but let it go on turn T♠ after Tan fired another 18,000.

Markus Albisser pushed his last 31,500 (6 BB) on the hijack and faced Michael Wood on the small blind for a flip.

Board A♣ Q♣ J♣ 7♦ 8♣ ran in favor of Wood's overcards, knocking out Albisser in the process.

Rudolf Fourie on the small blind, made it 12,500 to go and saw Harry Cheatman come along.

On flop 2♥ 6♦ T♥ , Fourie check called a 5,000 bet from his opponent, revealing turn J♣ . Both checked it through to river T♠ , where Cheatman gunned for a final 15,000, checked once more to him. Fourie slipped the fold, saving his seven big blinds behind.

Michael Wood opened 13,500 on the cutoff and was called right behind by Neil Davidson.

Action on board 8♣ 6♥ 6♦ 3♣ T♦ was checked all the way down to the river, where Wood led out a bet of 8,000. Davidson called with two pair K♥ T♥ and shipped the win after Wood tabled J♦ T♣ .

Alfie Adam open shoved utg for his last 35,500 (9 BB) and was called by Rudolf Fourie on the button.

Adam in rough shape, was the first player to walk away with a payout after board 7♠ 3♦ 8♥ 8♠ J♠ failed to save him from his demise.

Facing an open and a call, Nobuyasu Sato moved all-in on the small blind for 26,500 (6 BB) and saw initial raiser Harry Cheatham push likewise. Alfie Adam stepped away from the action, leaving the two to run the cards.

Sato at risk, bound for the exit shortly after losing the flip on board Q♠ 9♠ 5♣ K♥ 5♦ , eliminating him one spot shy of a payday.

Action on flop A♣ 9♠ 9♣ was checked round to turn 7♦ . Both checked to Adam once more, pushing him to bet 15,000. Wood check called onto river K♥ , where he led for a final 12,000. Adam open folded J♦ J♥ and Wood returned the favor, showing Q♥ Q♣ .

Harry Cheatham opened to 10,000 mid position and saw Calvin Tan on the big blind complete. On flop J♦ 9♦ 6♣ , Tan quickly surrendered after Cheatham followed with another bet of 10,000.

Having lost half his stack to Markus Albisser in the same situation, Sean Keeton found himself in trouble once more after he pushed all-in on the small blind for his remaining 27,500 (11 BB) and was called by Albisser for a showdown.

Keeton at risk, managed to outflop his opponent on 6♥ 9♦ 7♣ , but came crashing down as runout A♥ 2♣ turned the advantage back in Albisser's favor.

Sean Keeton raised all-in on the small blind and saw Markus Albisser put his tournament life on the line - 30,500 (12 BB).

Board 9♣ 3♣ 7♠ 3♦ 4♦ ran dry for both, leaving Albisser's better ace good for the win.

Brian Green has pushed all-in twice in a row and picked up two rounds of blinds and antes after remaining unchallenged.

A button vs blind confrontation between Calvin Tan and Thalmann Robert built a pot of 31,000 in the middle across board A♦ 3♦ T♦ 7♣ . Both stacks wasted no time rushing in, Robert at risk for his last 26,000.

A blind vs blind battle saw Michael Wood limp call a 7,500 raise from Harry Cheatham behind.

Action on board 8♠ 7♠ Q♥ 4♥ 4♠ was checked all the way down to the river, where Wood fired an 18,000 overbet. Cheatham surrendered, giving up the pot to his opponent.

Harry Cheatham limped in utg and was followed by two more limps behind. Michael Wood on the big blind, decided to bump it up to 6,500, and picked up the pot uncontested.

Wayde Parker open jammed his 22,200 (11 BB) stack on the cutoff and was looked up by Nobuyasu Sato right on the big blind.

A coinflip situation, Sato quickly landed the advantage on board J♦ 2♥ 4♥ J♠ K♣ , sending Parker to the rails.

Rajesh Goyal raised all-in on the small blind and saw Thalmann Robert on his left, call off for his 21,600 (11 BB) stack.

Cheatham with the best hand in the deck, easily scooped up the pot as board A♠ J♣ 5♠ K♠ K♣ offered him a slam dunk win.

Sato a favorite to win, cruised to victory on board Q♥ 8♠ T♣ 3♦ 2♦ and doubled up to a healthy 30 BB stack.

Thalmann Robert defended his big blind vs Alfie Adam’s 4,000 open, and went on to check call two streets - 5,000 and 7,000, on board 4♣ T♠ 9♥ J♠ .

On river A♠ , Adam pulled the trigger and barreled all-in and left Robert nowhere to go but out.

Ferenczi Michel on the big blind, went with T♥ 9♣ for his last 9,600 (5 BB) and was up against utg raiser Calvin Tan's J♣ 9♠ .

Dominated, Michel crashed out shortly after board T♦ J♦ K♣ 5♠ 7♥ rolled on the felt.

Taruli Aritonang open jammed his 20,800 (13 BB) mid position and was looked up by Harry Cheatham on the cutoff.

A series of back and forth between Alfie Adam and Ronnie Tate ended with the latter risking his entire 43,100 (27 BB) with the ladies.

Chip leader Michael Wood has been ramping up the aggression and has since picked up three pots in a row, swinging more chips his way.

Wood firstly, fired a three bet against an open and a call and picked up the pot uncontested.

The following hand saw Wood this time, open from early position, and four bet jam against a three bet to take it down straight away.

Three in a row, Wood locked in another round of blinds after his utg open found no callers.

A cooler situation saw Neil Davidson at risk for his last 15,100 (13 BB) against Taruli Aritonang on the button.

Ferenczi Michel opened on the hijack and saw Rustem Zhugralin call behind, along with both players on the blinds - Todd Hansen and Calvin Tan.

Michael Murray opened 2,000 on the hijack and called off his remaining 13,800 after Nobuyasu Sato moved all-in on the small blind.

McCann as the underdog, caught up quickly on board 3♣ 4♣ A♥ 8♣ 3♥ , shipping him the full triple up while Isayama raked in the side pot to cover his losses.

Preflop action built a pot of 4,500 as flop T♥ 2♥ 7♥ ran on the felt. Betting between Mark Warren and Alfie Adam continued, which eventually landed both stacks in the middle - Adam at risk for his last 11,100.

Up against an open and a call, Lawrence Pashak moved all-in for 5,300 (11 BB) and saw Rajesh Goyal on the button push likewise. Initial raiser Brian Green joined in for his last 9,900 (20 BB), making it a three way showdown.

Three pocket pairs on the table, Pashak's best hand held through on board A♠ 9♠ 3♠ 5♣ 7♥ while Goyal banked the side pot, cutting his losses.

Another all-in preflop situation saw Rudolf Fourie gladly risk his remaining 9,700 with the best hand in the deck up against Michael Wood's pocket pair.

Michael Wood defended his big blind against Thalmann Robert's 1,000 button open, and faced another 1,000 cbet on flop 4♥ T♦ 9♦ . Wood answered with a check raise to 4,000 and left Robert in quick surrender.

Padraig Burns defended his big blind against Mark Warren's 800 button open, and check called 1,100 on flop 4♣ K♠ J♠ . On turn 2♠ , Warren went for another 2,500, and convinced Burns to save his last 5,000 behind.

Rajesh Goyal opened 1,000 utg+1 and saw Peter Kiem complete on the big blind.

On flop J♦ 2♦ 7♥ , Goyal continued for 1,200, yet quickly folded after Kiem check raised to 3,000.

Ferenczi Michel opened 1,500 utg+1 and saw three other players come along on flop A♥ 2♥ 3♠ .

Michel continued for 2,500, called by both Thalmann Robert and Calvin Tan on the big blind. On turn Q♦ , Michel went ahead and barreled another 3,000. This time only Tan stuck around to see river 7♠ , and got to showdown for cheap after Michel checked it back.

Facing an open and a call, Ofir Wilzig squeezed all-in on the button for 10,800 (27 BB) and saw initial raiser Taruli Aritonang take the spot.

In for a flip, board 7♦ 8♠ T♦ 8♦ J♠ this time, ran in favor of Aritonang's overcards, sending Wilzig's pocket pair flying towards the muck.

A four way raised pot led by Marcel Gillet dealt a flop of A♠ 7♣ Q♥ . Action checked round to turn 8♠ , where Eric Bennici bet 800. Both Mark Warren and Olivier Moyon continued to river T♣ and faced another 2,100 bet from Bennici.

Moyon check called with the second nuts J♣ 9♠ and bagged the win as Bennici showed only top pair A♦ 4♦ .

With only 1,700 in the pot across board 7♦ K♣ 9♦ 4♥ 4♦ , Ronnie Tate went for an over bet of 2,600 against Peter Bennett on the big blind. Bennett responded with a check raise for 5,000 more, and left Tate unable to continue.

Wayde Parker opened 400 utg, and was joined by Peter Randle on the button and Taruli Aritonang on the big blind.

Parker continued for a pot sized bet of 1,300 on flop 9♥ 4♣ 4♠ , called by Randle behind. Action back to Aritonang, he went for a check raise to 3,300 and saw Parker complete. Two all-ins followed behind - Randle (6,700), and Aritonang to isolate, pushing Parker out of the way.

Tan continued for 600 and was check called by Michael Wood on the small blind. Both checked turn K♦ through to A♥ , where Wood led a final 1,300. Tan snap called with two pair K♥ 7♥ and found it good against Wood's 9♥ 8♠ for the pot.

With a pot of 2,500 seen in the middle on flop 4♠ 7♥ Q♦ , action saw player on the small blind lead all-in against two players behind. Peter Bennett found the call with top pair K♣ Q♠ , risking his last 7,200.

Opponent with 8♣ 4♣ , failed to catch up on either turn 9♦ or river K♦ , and Bennett was awarded the full double up.

Markus Albisser kicked off the action with an utg open for 300. Four players called behind, followed by a three bet from Praveen Tammana on the big blind.
