Day 1A came to an end with 42 players remaining, and the big stack belongs to Raffaele Sorrentino, who bagged 970,000 (97 big blinds).

Action ended with 7:55 remaining in Level 17, with blinds at 5,000-10,000 and a10,000 ante. Day 2 will roll the blinds back to the earliest point where a starting flight finished.

Official chip counts for the 42 survivors will be released by the casino later tonight, and they will be returning on Monday at 11:30 pm for Day 2, where everyone will start play in the money.

There will be two more starting flights over the next two days, with Day 1B beginning tomorrow at 11:30 am, and Day 1C beginning on Sunday at 11:30 am.

Khorshad Sagor raises to 16,000 and Kimsour Kong makes it 37,000 to go. Sagor then four-bet jams for 218,000 and Kong calls with the chip lead at his disposal.

The Q♦ 3♣ 2♣ 9♠ J♥ board provides the sucker punch double and stop the hot run of Kong for now.

Kimsour Kong snaps off Denny Kruezi's 55,000 open shove and shows K♣ J♣ . Kruezi is ahead A♣ 7♣ until the board runs 6♥ J♦ 5♦ T♠ 5♠ . Kong ships it and adds to his already massive pile.

Brian Green raises from under the gun and Alex Tchong three-bets to 32,000, then picks up a call by Green only. On the 9♥ 8♣ 3♣ flop, Green checks and Tchong continues for 20,000. The check-raise to 50,000 follows and Tchong folds.

Green rakes in the pot and currently competes against Kimsour Kong for the top of the leaderboard.

A massive stack is in front of Kimsour Kong while Siarhei Chudapal was replaced by Xiaosheng Zheng. The latter calls Kong's raise to 11,000 and check-calls for 9,000 on the 9♠ 3♠ 2♠ flop. They check down the 7♠ 8♥ river for Kong to show A♥ 9♣ , which Zheng has beat with the 8♠ 6♥ .

Sertac Turker raises to 8,000 and Siarhei Chudapal calls on the button. Joshua McSwiney then jams for 143,000 and Turker goes all-in over the top to force out Chudapal.

McSwiney is at risk with the J♦ T♦ and has a mountain to climb versus K♥ K♣ .

On the K♦ T♥ 9♦ flop, McSwiney says "okay, more of this," as he picks up a gutshot and flush draw. The J♣ turn is a blank but the A♦ river comes to the rescue.

One hand later, Turker gets the last 19,000 in with K♦ 9♦ and big stack Kimsour Kong calls from the big blind with 4♥ 3♥ . There is no upset this time on the A♠ 8♦ 5♣ T♣ runout.
