It was a huge day at the Main Event with 339 entries for Day 1C. After 14 rounds, only 85 survived with India’s Sumit Sapra at the helm bagging 310,500 in chips. Sapra was the only player to cross into this range. HIs closest competitor was Chauve Vincent with 263,000 and Tzu Chieh Lo with 250,000. Tony Trieu picked up two pots to bring his stack to 230k. The first one he railed a player with pocket aces over pocket tens.

Next hand, Chih Ying Liang raised to 5500, called by two players until it reached Trieu who three-bet to 17.5k. Two players called, Liang and Cuong. At the flop J 5 7 , Trieu bet 25k and won the pot with no callers.

Lu Zheng Hao was on his second bullet today after falling to quads with his full house. He hoped his second attempt would be better, and he was faring well with over 100k until the last level sent him plummeting. He shared the hand with us. He opened to 5500 from hijack and bb defended. On the flop 3 Q 6 , bb checked, Hao bet 4k, bb raised to 14k, Hao called. On the turn K both checked and the river 2 completed the board. Bb bet 17k, Hao shoved his 60k, bb called with slightly less. Hao with 6 6 set, bb with 4 5 straight, Hao got chunked to 8k.

That’s it! Registration has officially closed for the Main Event. There were 339 entries today - 263 uniques and 76 re-entries. Combine that with the previous starting days - 136 and 211 - that comes to a total of 686 entries. The Main Event officially broke its previous Vietnam attendance of 679 entries. We will have the prize pool up for you soon but it is over VND 15 Billion.

We have crossed into 600 entries combined… the screen shows 258 entries. Combine that with the past two starting days 347 total, we are at 605 entries. With 5 more levels to go before reg closes, we are looking in fine shape to exceed last year’s 679 entries and possibly even surpass WPT India’s 697 tour record for Asia.

WPT welcomes players to the Main Event

During the first break of the day, WPT Event Manager Cathy Zhao, WPT Ambassador Barney Trouble, and WPT Live Events Consultant Danny McDonagh welcomed the players to the Main Event and expressed their gratitude to the Pro Poker Club owner Mr Long, Director Anh Nguyen, and WPT partner Denis Pham.
