Day 1C ends with Sumit Sapra up top

It was a huge day at the Main Event with 339 entries for Day 1C. After 14 rounds, only 85 survived with India’s Sumit Sapra at the helm bagging 310,500 in chips. Sapra was the only player to cross into this range. HIs closest competitor was Chauve Vincent with 263,000 and Tzu Chieh Lo with 250,000. We will have a recap for you shortly along with the chip count. For now, have a read on some of the action we caught in this heat.

Andy Li Xueyan rails Minh Le

Level 14: 1,500 / 2,500 ante: 2,500

Andy Li Xueyan had pocket kings, Minh Le had pocket nines, the board ran 3-8-9-8-K for a full house to both but Xueyan with the higher spread.

Tony Trieu wins two, rises to 230k

Level 14: 1,500 / 2,500 ante: 2,500

Tony Trieu picked up two pots to bring his stack to 230k. The first one he railed a player with pocket aces over pocket tens.

Next hand, Chih Ying Liang raised to 5500, called by two players until it reached Trieu who three-bet to 17.5k. Two players called, Liang and Cuong. At the flop J♠ 5♣ 7♦ , Trieu bet 25k and won the pot with no callers.

Lu Zheng Hao gets chunked

Level 14: 1,500 / 2,500 ante: 2,500

Lu Zheng Hao was on his second bullet today after falling to quads with his full house. He hoped his second attempt would be better, and he was faring well with over 100k until the last level sent him plummeting. He shared the hand with us. He opened to 5500 from hijack and bb defended. On the flop 3♥ Q♣ 6♦ , bb checked, Hao bet 4k, bb raised to 14k, Hao called. On the turn K♠ both checked and the river 2♥ completed the board. Bb bet 17k, Hao shoved his 60k, bb called with slightly less. Hao with 6♥ 6♠ set, bb with 4♣ 5♥ straight, Hao got chunked to 8k.

Tan Wah Meng boots one

Level 13: 1 / 2 ante: 2

With 10k in the middle, three players stared down a flop Q♣ A♠ 3♠ . Sb checked, Tan Wah Meng bet 4500, Jin Yong folded, back to sb who shoved. Meng called. Sb K♠ 7♠ flush draw, Meng Q♦ J♦ mid pair. The turn A♥ and river 9♣ completed the board. Meng shipped it while sending one out in the process. Meng up to 180k.

Rex Clinkscales takes from Jaewook Shin

Yet another loss for Jaewook Shin. This time it was Rex Clinkscales taking some. Clinkscales raised to 4500, Shin defended on the big blind. At the flop 9♠ 6♣ A♠ , Shin checked, Clinkscales bet 8500, Shin folded. Clinkscales up to 170k, Shin down to 130k.

Lucky quads for Chih Ying Liang, busts An Joung Huk

An Joung Huk raised to 4500, Chih Ying Liang re-raised to 11k, Huk called. On the flop K♥ K♣ 5♥ , both checked and the dealer dropped 7♥ turn. Huk checked, Liang bet 10k, Huk shoved his 35k stack, and Liang snapped him off.

Huk Q♥ J♥ flush Liang A♥ K♦ trips

The river K♠ improved Liang to a roaring quads to take the lead and the pot. Huk busted. Liang up to 260k.

Gabriel Carter wins some off Jaewook Shin

Jaewook Shin hasn’t won a hand that he’s raised preflop. Having lost two to Johannes Felix Hoeld, he lost another but bigger pot to Gabriel Carter. Action began with Shin raising to 4500 from utg, called by two players which included Carter on the big blind. At the flop 7♠ 3♠ Q♥ , Carter checked, Shin bet 6k, one player folded, back to Carter who called. On the K♥ turn, Carter checked, Shing bet 15k, Carter raised to 48.5k, Shin folded.

Utg KDI raised to 6k, mp Soo Jo Kim called, and joined by the button Dinh Xuan Dinh for a three-way look at the flop A♥ K♣ 5♥ . KDI bet 9k, called by both Kim and Dinh. On the turn 6♠ , KDI bet 20k, Kim shoved 40k, Dinh folded.

Kim A♥ Q♥ top pair KDI A♠ K♥ top two pair

The river 2♦ ended the hand for a double up to KDI.

Johannes Felix Hoeld wins three pots

Level 13: 1 / 2 ante: 2

Johannes Felix Hoeld boosted his stack to 120k after winning three pots at his table in this new round. First pot saw cutoff Jaewook Shin raise to 4500, Hoeld shoved on the button, no call.

Next hand it was Shin again who raised to 4500, Hoeld three-bet to 13.5k, Shin folded. Third winning pot, Hoeld raised to 4500, one player called, another three-bet to 14.5k, called by both players. On the flop 4♦ 2♦ J♣ , action was checked to the aggressor, he bet 18.5k. Hoeld moved all in. No callers to claim the pot.
