Zheng Anshu leads 18 qualifiers from Mystery Bounty Flight B

Level 15: 2,000 / 4,000 ante: 4,000
Zheng Anshu

Flight B of (Event #2) the Won Poker Cup II Mystery Bounty more than tripled the entries from Flight A as 141 entries were logged leading to 18 making it through to the finale on Wednesday (November 27) at the Won Majestic Hotel here in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

Star-studded field

Some who arrived at this venue to sample the hostilities used Flight B to test the waters as renowned Filipino David Erquiaga, European circuit veteran Erik Rozhynskyi of the Ukraine and Vietnamese legend Hoang Hai Nam were among those that battled in the trenches along with those who failed to get through from yesterday’s Flight A including Thailand’s Thanapon Thipthan, Jean Dufour of France and Vietnam’s Mai Bien, who bubbled in the first sortie.

Alex Wong

Wong early surge, Indonesians make noise

Malaysia’s Alex Wong used a series of strong runs at middle stages to battle for the chip lead which was first attained by Wong when he eventually busted out Shin Pilho—the player who crippled him in the early goings with Q Q against Shin’s K J .

But not to be undone was the work put in the Indonesian pair of Roy Adi Putra and Jhon Hendri who also contended for the chip-lead towards the latter stages of the day.

Zheng reaches summit and never looks back

It was the late game brilliance of China’s Zheng Anshu that tilted the balance of power as he first knocked out a surging Quynh Thuy of Vietnam (along with Canada’s Haile Rafik Kuo) with A K against Quynh’s Q Q (and Kuo’s A 6h) and the flop went 7 8 K to get to over 400,000 in chip and later play the role of executioner during the stone bubble.

Korea’s Won Jungsung bubbles Flight B

After the elimination of Vietnam’s Nguyen Ni at the hands of former chip leader Heng Kai Perng of Malaysia, it took just a few hands before Zheng burst the bubble as action was folded to the SB of Korea’s Won Jungsung who shoved into the BB of Zheng who made the snap call. Won had K T while the Chinese chip-leader was ahead with A Q and ended up winning with trips on a J 4 Q 6 Q board to end hostilities and guarantee that the 18 that made it through from this qualifier merge with the six that made it from Flight B to compete for Mystery Bounties and cash prizes that will be announced soon.

Day 2 commences tomorrow (Wednesday, November 27) at 1PM (UCT+7).

John Hendri

Jhon Hendri of Indonesia raises from the +1 position to 8,000 and the action folds all the way to the BB of Frances Jean Dufour who opts to defend his BB.

The flop is 8 4 2 as Dufour checks. Hendri CBets for 7,000 and gets check-raised by the Frenchman to 20,000. The Indonesian 3-bets all-in for his remaining 89,000 and gets called.

Hendri tables J T for a flush draw while DuFour has K 8 for top pair on the flop.

The turn is the 9 and the river is the Q as Hendri was buying something but ended purchasing something else for the win: a runner-runner straight that brings him to the 200,000 chip mark while Dufour slips into the danger zone with less than 20 BBs.

Michael Truong

Still smarting from losing a big chunk of his chips to Indonesian Roy Adi Putra, Michael Truong of the United States opens from the +2 position for 6,000 and the action folds to the HJ where a player goes all-in for 90,500. Truong elects to call.

The player at risk has A J while Truong is delighted to be dominating his opponent with A Q .

The flop gave Truong even more reasons to smile: Q 2 8 as he hit his Queen, but the turn card shows up as the K , giving his foe four clean outs for a straight. That never happens, though, as the 7 completes the board and eliminates the player.

Truong near the 200,000 chip mark anew.
