Mystery Bounty Flight A sees six advance to Day, Malaysia’s Loong Yuen tops leaderboard
Mystery Bounty - Flight A
Flight A of the US$100,000 GTD Won Poker Cup (Event #2) Mystery Bounty kicked off with explosive action as the 41 entries slugged it out to nab the six qualifying slots up for grabs at the Won Majestic Hotel here in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
Chip Leader Jostle
In the early goings, it was Taiwan’s Yu Lin who seemed to have the right moves at the right time as he celebrated his victory at the (Event #1) Warm-Up by being the first to breach the 100,000 chip mark, thanks primarily to getting K♣ K♠ against Thailand’s Thanapon Thipthan when the latter had Q♣ 9♣ on a board that went Q♥ 6♥ 6♣ 9♦ 6♣ .
But his reign atop had opposition as Hong Sung Heon of Korea became the first to surpass the 200,000 by standing pat with 5♣ 4♣ on a flop of 5♠ 4♥ 2♠ and calling the shove of Yu, who had a monster draw with K♠ Q♠ that never materialized. Vietnam’s Nguyen Quang Huy used his steady play to snare the chip lead at one point, but towards the twilight of the competition, Loong Yuen of Malaysia eft everyone in the dust.
Money Bubble Blues
One guys who staying relevant despite being under the radar was Mai Bien of Vietnam as the multi-awarded international campaigner looked to be cruising to the finish line until his Q♣ J♠ played aggressively on a board of 6♣ K♦ J♣ T♣ against Nishada Masataka of Japan who held K♠ J♦ looked to have a multitude of outs, until the river of the 4♠ dashed all hopes and made Mai the Money Bubble.
Loong leads Day 1A charge
The Malaysian stayed in the shadows then suddenly began taking significant pots until the demise of Yu at his hands when his A♥ Q♣ was seemingly crushed against his Taiwanese opponent’s A♣ K♦ . The board looked like it was going well for Yu: 5♣ 7♠ 5♦ 5♠ and then the Q♥ on the river to not only knock off the former chip-leader but to have a stronghold on first place heading into Day 2, which happens on November 27, Wednesday.
