'Horace' Wei Nan Leads 24 at the End of Day 2

From a starting field of 1,486 entries and 315 players who began Day 2, just 24 remain in contention for the USOP Osaka Main Event title. Leading the way is Hong Kong’s 'Horace' Wei Nan, who bagged up 5,230,000 chips to secure the top spot. Nan is a seasoned competitor with over $680,000 in live earnings to his name, highlighted by a career-best score of more than $400,000. Ranked 33rd on Hong Kong’s all-time money list, he has built a reputation for consistency, with both of his recorded live victories coming in Europe.
Wei Nan’s rise to the top came in a huge clash against Japan’s Ryusuke Kasawaki, where he shoved on the river and forced a snap-call. Kasawaki’s ace-queen held strong against Wei’s missed queen-ten, flipping the chip counts and vaulting the Hong Kong pro into the overall lead at the last minute.
With the field now just one step away from crowning a champion, all eyes will be on Nan to see if he can carry his momentum through to the final day. Stick around for the full results of Day 2, which will go live shortly, and be sure to check back tomorrow to see our full coverage of who captures the title.

Fortunately for Lacky168, the river came the 8♦, locking him up a much-needed double-up.

Stanley Karl Falls as Bubble Boy

On the direct bubble, all eyes were on Table# 23 as Stanely Karl moved all in from middle position for his last 51,000. Action folded around to Rapurasu in the small blind, who quickly made the call to put Karl’s tournament life on the line.
Stanely Karl: A♠ Q♠
Rapurasu: 5♦ 5♥
It was a classic coin flip for survival. The flop came 4♥ 8♥ 3♦, keeping Rapurasu’s pocket fives in front and leaving Karl in need of an ace or queen to stay alive.
The turn brought the 2♠, offering a glimmer of hope for a possible chop with a straight on the river. But the deck had other plans as an 8♦ completed the board, sealing Karl’s exit as the unfortunate bubble boy.

Kenshiro: 9♦ 9♥
