Yong Li Leads Day 1D of the GLPC Main Event; Day 2 Kicks Off Tomorrow

Day 1D of the Main Event drew a massive 498 entries (321 unique), eclipsing previous flights and bringing the total field to 1,564 entries, with just 197 advancing to Day 2. After thirteen hours of intense play inside the Grand Vista Hotel today, just 63 players survived to secure a guaranteed cash, led by Yong Li of China.
Li bagged the second-largest stack of the series so far, trailing only Day 1A leader Van Quoc Vo. With over $320,000 in live earnings, the Chinese regular has become a familiar face on the Asian circuit, boasting multiple final-table finishes this year alone - including a runner-up in Jeju’s Hyper Turbo High Roller and a fifth-place run in the Red Dragon Prestige High Roller.
His path to the top wasn’t without drama. Earlier in the day, Li picked up a sizeable pot after cracking Amit Kaushik’s top pair in a four-way all-in, not long after he found himself on the receiving end of a three-round penalty for exposing his cards mid-tank. The setback barely slowed him down, however, as he rebuilt quickly and maintained steady momentum through to the finish.

The money bubble burst in memorable fashion. After an earlier soft-bubble knockout, Giang Dinh Truong got the last of his 35,000 chips in from under the gun holding pocket sevens, and Jan Peter Eikholt called with kings. The board ran 3♥ 6♣ 9♦ 4♦ A♠, sending Truong out as the official bubble boy and locking in the remaining 63 players for a Day 2 payday.
Full chip counts and seat draw will be posted soon. All survivors return tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. local time to play down to the final table.
Check back in with Somuchpoker for full Day 2 coverage and all the action from the GLPC Main Event!

Jan Peter Eikholt Eliminates Giang Dinh Truong To Burst Day 1D Bubble

After an intense soft bubble elimination the hand prior, Giang Dinh Truong got his short stack - just 35,000 chips - in from under the gun, and Jan Peter Eikholt called looking to burst the Day 1d bubble. The crowd gathered and the floor instructed them to reveal their hands:
Giang Dinh Truong: 7♠ 7♣
Jan Peter Eikholt: K♦ K♠
The room was ecstatic as the anticipation built before the board was ran out.
There were calls for a seven, but the dealer didn't answer them, spreading 3♥ 6♣ 9♦ 4♦ A♠ to send Truong home as the official bubble boy, securing the remaining 63 players a cash.

Bing Li: 8♥ 8♣
Viet Tien Nguyen: 6♥ 6♠
Li was well ahead and only needed to fade a six. The flop K♣ 7♦ 3♥ and turn 4♥ ran clean and just as the dealer prepared to reveal the river, Nguyen shouted, “Five!”
The poker gods must’ve been listening, the five hit the river 5♥ , completing Nguyen’s straight! The table erupted as Nguyen snatched the pot in dramatic fashion, while Li could only shake his head in disbelief.

Yong Li Clips Kaushik’s Eights in Four-Way Pot
Action was joined in a four-way pot on a flop showing 8♥ 6♣ 6♥. Amit Kaushik shoved for his 112,000-chip stack and was facing action from cutoff Yong Li, as well as blinds Duc Tuan Tran and The Dan Chu.
Li re-shoved for around 200,000, leaving Tran with a decision. He used a couple of timebanks before eventually folding, but not before showing his cards to the player beside him. The dealer exposed his hand for violating the rules, revealing seven-six offsuit - a straight draw that didn’t quite make the cut. Chu folded soon after, leaving Kaushik and Li to table their hands:
Amit Kaushik: K♠ 8♠
Yong Li: A♣ 8♣

Cutoff Dan Anh Tuan raised to 4,000 and found one caller, Shihao He in the big blind.
He checked on the K♦ 2♦ A♥ flop, and Tuan fired 3,000 into the middle.

Tuan Rivers a Straight to Crack Aces
Duc Tuan Tran opened to 200 and was three-bet to 800 by Viet Dang Nguyen one seat to his left, with Tran making the call.
Both players checked through the 4♥ 4♠ T♣ flop to see the 5♥ turn, where Tuan check-called Nguyen’s
1,000 bet.
On the 8♦ river, Tuan led out for 4,500 and instantly called Nguyen’s 12,000 raise. Nguyen tabled pocket aces, but they couldn’t hold against Tuan’s 7♥ 6♠ for a rivered straight.

40 minutesSet of Twos Leaves Tang Crippled
Nhon Quang Tang opened to 300 from early position and received two calls: hijack Van Hau Nguyen and small blind Sung Jin Yun, and they headed three ways to the flop.
Yun checked once the 2♠ 9♣ 3♠ hit the felt; Tang continued for 800, and Nguyen got out of the way. Yun then raised to 1,600, which was met with a re-raise to 6,000 from Tang, with Yun eventually making the call.
The 6♣ landed on the turn and Yun checked once again; Tang slid 12,000 into the middle, to which Yun responded by placing the remainder of his ~27,500-chip stack into the pot. Tang tanked, taking timebanks and tossing them in one by one as he mulled over the decision. He eventually made the call:
Sung Jin Yun: 2♣ 2♥
Nhon Quang Tang: A♠ A♥
Yun’s flopped set was too strong to crack, with the J♠ river changing nothing and leaving Tang with just 700 chips behind.

We have our first bust-out here at the Mini Main Day 1D!
After an intense exchange of raises preflop, Dang Phuc Nguyen checked the flop 8♦ 6♣ 4♣ before Duc Tuan Tran shoved for 26,700. Nguyen went deep into the tank, using all five of his time banks before finally making the call.
Duc Tuan Tran: J♥ 9♣
Dang Phuc Nguyen: Q♣ Q♦
Tran’s bluff was quickly revealed, and Nguyen’s queens held strong through the turn 4♥ and river T♠ . Tran made his exit, but wasted no time heading straight to the cashier for a quick rebuy.
