The Taiwan Million Tournament 17 (TMT) Super High Roller Event delivered a thrilling spectacle, with 98 entries battling through 24 rounds. The air was intense as players vied for a spot among the 15 who would finish in the money. In the end, it was South Korea’s Hyunsup Kim who emerged victorious, claiming the prestigious title and a payou deal of NTD 1,440,450 (~USD 43,940).

The Final Showdown

The final showdown between Hyunsup Kim and Taiwan’s Kai Cheng Hsu opened with the two players agreeing to an even chop. With the trophy still up for grabs, it took only two hands for Kim to nail it shut.

The first hand saw Kim double up with a higher kicker, sending Hsu down to 1 big blind. Kim closed it out on the next hand. The crowd erupted as Kim was crowned the TMT 17 Super High Roller Champion, with Kai Cheng Hsu taking a well-deserved second place.

Insights from the Champion

In a post-win interview, Kim shared his excitement:

“I had fun. I had a good experience playing with so many people. TMT is fun and exciting, and I plan to join again.”

Kim, no stranger to the poker scene, highlighted his strategic approach during the heads-up play:

“I only bet when my hands had value. Kai Cheng Hsu is a very good player, and I’ve played with him before, so I knew what to expect.”

When asked about his future plans, Kim revealed his intent to continue competing in major events, including WSOP, and expressed a fondness for playing in Taiwan:

“Taiwan is a good place because we are neighbors. I plan to join more events here and abroad.”
