Yu Young Jin Leads Final Nine in Super Cup Seoul 2024 Main Event

Level 21: 10,000 / 20,000 ante: 20,000
Chip Leader Yu Young Jin

The final table has been set for the inaugural Super Cup Seoul 2024 Main Event at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center. When the penultimate tournament day kicked off, 38 Day 1 survivors returned to their seats inside of "The Platz" to battle their way as deep as possible for a piece of the KRW 248 Million prize pool.

Only nine of them succeeded in this quest for the time being when the final river card was dealt inside of Studio 159. Eight players from South Korea and one contender from China remain in contention and leading the way by a large margin is Yu Young Jin with 2,100,000 to his name. He has more chips than second-placed Su Min Im (955,000) and third-placed Jae Seok Sim (920,000) just to put things into perspective.

Longhao Shen is the only foreigner trying to claim the stunning trophy and sits in fourth place on the leaderboard with 845,000. He was responsible for the elimination of fellow countryman Junsheng Qiao in 11th place before Day 1c chip leader Sung Won Seo became the final casualty of the night.

Representing the main sponsor Isabelle is none other than Joo Hee Oh, the last woman standing in this tournament. She had somewhat of a roller coaster ride on the live stream table and bagged up 770,000 to her name. All nine finalists have locked up KRW 4.2 Million ($3,002) for their efforts, whereas the winner will receive the handsome top prize of KRW 60 Million ($42,891).

Final Table Seat Draw

Seat 1: Longhao Shen (China) - 845,000 (42 BB)

The conclusion of the marquee event on the schedule in the heart of Gangnam will recommence with 35 minutes left in level 21 at blinds of 10,000-20,000 with a 20,000 big blind ante.

On the final day of the series, the Main Event kicks off at noon local time inside of Studio 159 and the live stream action on the Super Cup YouTube channel with cards-up coverage and commentary in Korean will run on a 30-minute delay. That also applies for the SoMuchPoker live updates until a winner has been crowned.

Yu Young Jin Runs Riot on Outer Table

Level 20: 10,000 / 15,000 ante: 15,000

Not long ago, Sung Won Seo and Yu Young Jin had been very close in chips but Seo lost two big pots while Jin soared to the undisputed lead on the outer table.

Seo now raised to 40,000 from under the gun and Jin called from the big blind. Jin checked the 9 7 6 flop, then called a bet worth 50,000. Both checked it down on the J turn and Q river for Jin to declare "river" and expose his Q 8 . That was the winning hand again, as Seo's stack was further depleted.

Jong Hoon Lee Eliminated in 13th Place

Level 19: 6,000 / 12,000 ante: 12,000
Jong Hoon Lee

The action started rather innocent with an open raise to 25,000 by Yoo Young Jin from under the gun. Sungwon Seo flat-called and the action folded to Jong Hoon Lee in the small blind. He opted to push all-in for a massive amount and Jin asked for a count.

The shove was for 448,000 and Jin folded, while Seo used one time bank and called.

"Ace king?" other players at the table murmured before the cards were flipped over but Lee shook his head and flashed pocket fives. Seo's jacks improved to a set on the J 4 2 flop and the 2 turn left Lee drawing dead ahead of the A river as he departed in 13th place.

In a min-raised pot four ways to the ten-high flop, Joo Hee Oh bet 40,000 with her bottom set. Gwongjin Park raised to 120,000 from the big blind with the top pair. Gwongjin Park got away from the aces and Sumin Lim tank-called the raise with the bottom two pair.

Oh then called as well and the three players headed to the turn. They checked to the river and Oh bet 200,000 with fewer than that behind. Kim called and mucked against the full house while Oh reached seven figures.

Welcome to Day 2 of the Super Cup Seoul 2024 Main Event

Level 14: 2,000 / 4,000 ante: 4,000
Sungmin Ha

The money stages are set for the inaugural Super Cup Seoul 2024 Main Event at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center and out of a field of 248 entries, only 38 players remain. They have all locked up a portion of the KRW 248 Million (~USD 177,284) and will walk away with at least KRW 2 Million for their efforts. However, the winner won't be crowned until tomorrow as Day 2 is set to play down to the final nine players.

Sungmin Ha leads the way with a staggering 541,000 in chips (good enough for 135 big blinds), most closely followed by Jong Hoon Lee (465,000) and Sumin Lim (441,000). Day 1c chip leader Sungweon Seo (337,000) and Day 1d top dog Xu Chen (332,000) are up next and separated by only one big blind.

Joo Hee Oh returns with 179,000 in chips and is one of three female players in contention, while Subin Lim (40,000) and Yun Hye Kim (22,000) survived their bubble stages on a short stack. The same also applies for Hong Kong's Alan "King Lun" Lau, arguably one of the most experienced players in the field. He returns with 65,000 to spin up.

The action recommences at 11 a.m. local time and the blinds roll back to the start of level 14 with 2,000-4,000 and a big blind ante of 4,000. All levels for Day 2 will have a duration of 50 minutes each and the action for tonight concludes when there are nine contenders left. From the first break on, the action will also be live-streamed on a 30-minute delay on the Super Cup YouTube channel.
