Shengfa Huang Hoists The Red Dragon Championship Trophy For KR₩ 360,000,000 (~$250,615) Payday

After four days and 33 levels, with a total of 997 entries that ballooned the total prize pool to KR₩ 2,175,953,000 (~$1,582,120), Chinese Texas Hold'em insurance broker Shengfa Huang clinched the Red Dragon Championship to become the newest champion of the Red Dragon Poker Tour Jeju. Lifting the first poker trophy of his life, Huang shipped the massive first prize payout of KR₩ 360,000,000 (~US$ 250,615) and slipped into the coveted Red Dragon champions jacket. In a post-win with Huang he shared,
I feel quite calm now, though I was a bit excited earlier. This is my first time to win a live tournament. Winning this championship has made me like Texas Hold’em even more. I'll probably play more games coz winning the championship for the first time gives me more motivation for the next time.
Huang qualified in the final flight of four starters and quickly rose through the ranks in Day 2 to take a top spot on the leaderboard before having a setback when his K♦ K♠ were cracked by 7♦ 7♣ set but still ended the day ranked high as 4th in chips.

On Day 3, Huang landed a big boost with 9♦ 9♣ over the day's entering chip leader Qing Zhao 8♣ 8♥ , however as quick as it came, he was moved to an aggressive table and clashed with Marcus Law and Junjie He to see his stack drop to 14 bb. After winning a flip, with A♣ Q♠ against Law's 8♠ 8♥ that rivered the queen, he knocked out Kwok Wai Wong in 12th place and eventually ended the day ranked third out of the final 9 players.
Entering the final table, I didn't know the players well so my strategy was just to slowly reduce their chips. I also didn't feel much pressure since I didn't know their background.
Huang's strategy paid off, especially that the seat draw was to his advantage, giving him position on the two larger stacks. He took advantage of the setup, collecting small pots, until momentum fully shifted to his favor. Huang eliminated Sishu Peng (7th) and Jiapeng Yu (6th), bringing him at par with chip leader Junjie He.

Then came a turning point when he triple barreled on a board K♦ K♠ K♣ K♥ 4♦ with A♦ 6♣ that got Junjie to call with Q♣ 8♣ . This gave Huang a massive lead which he used to bulldoze the table. He knocked out Law (5th), Chenxu Zhang (3rd) with Q♦ T♣ spiking two pair to overcome K♣ Q♥ .
At heads up, his monstrous lead was hardly dented when Junjie doubled up. Huang nailed it shut with A♠ 4♣ cracking Q♦ Q♥ on a final board A♦ A♣ 3♦ 8♥ T♠ . For Huang, "playing poker is both joyful and painful. Winning the championship is joy, not winning is pain."
Congratulations to the champion!

The Red Dragon Championship Final 9 Will Take Their Seats At 12:00 Local

The headline event of the Red Dragon Poker Tour here at the beautiful Landing Casino in Jeju attracted 997 entries across all four opening flights resulting in a total prize pool of KRW 2,175,953,000 (~$1,582,120) with KRW 360,000,000 (~$250,615) going to the champion. From the 237 qualifiers that made the cut the Final 9 were set in stone last night during level 29 on Day 3 with the elimination of Chia Yun Wu in 10th place.
None of the Final 9 are full time poker players and other than Team Red Dragon Pro Chenxu 'Vanessa' Zhang will have a great chance to bank the biggest cash in their poker lives.

Current chip leader Junjie He is a 36 year old Chinese that has a daily job in finance and has been playing poker for around ten years. He has the 2nd most live earnings at the table just shy of $200,000 with his biggest cash of $40,032 coming from the CSPG Cangshan High Roller Shot Clock Victory in 2023.

Second in chips Marcus Law is a 24 year old Australian student who just got into live poker last year and already had a close call to a major final table at the APT Taipei Main Event two weeks ago when he finished 13th for his biggest live cash of $34,241.

Shengfa Huang bagged the third most chips He is a 38 year old Texas Hold'em insurance broker from China that has been playing poker for six years and has no recorded live earnings.

Team Red Dragon Pro Chenxu 'Vanessa' Zhang is the most decorated player at the table. She is a Chinese jewelry investor that has been playing for "a long time". Her total live earning sit at $765,000 with the majority coming from a 3rd place finish in the 2023 WPT Jeju One Drop for a whopping $389,066.

Starting the day in 5th is Yunfeng Sun, a 40 year old freelancer from China with five years of poker experience. Almost all his live earnings come from a 4th place finish at the CPG Jinan Main Event for $53,151 back in 2021.

Jiapeng Yu is a 26 year old freelancer from China who only started playing poker about half a year ago with his biggest cash of $6,211 coming from a 6th place in a NLH side event at the Poker Dream 12 here in Jeju last September.

In a close 7th we have Chinese Guanyu Chen, a 37 year old freelancer with three years of poker experience and no recorded winnings.

Yepeng Ni is a 41 year old teacher from China with six years experience and his biggest live cash of $14,910 comes from winning a NLH side event at the APT Manila in February of this year.

Last in chips, but not far behind the rest of the short stacks is Sishu Peng, a 36 year old film producer from China. His 13 years of playing poker yielded almost $100,000 in total earnings and a $37,450 biggest cash for taking home 6th place at the Tiger Poker Cup Beijing Main Event back in 2019.
These are our nine finalists that will unpack their chips at noon and play until a new Red Dragon Championship Winner is determined, taking home over $250,000 in cash, the most sought after trophy of the series and a Champions Jacket to remind them of today's events for the rest of their lives.
SMP will cover all the action starting at 12:00 local.
