Unfortunately for Duy Thuc Nguyen of Vietnam, he fell just one spot short of the bonus. Nguyen put his tournament life on the line against Haonan Wu’s shove with a covering stack, but his ace-high found little help on the board versus Wu’s pocket kings, bringing his run to an end just shy of the valuable ticket.
China’s Ben Fan was the one to burst the final table bubble. Fan’s ace-nine went up against Zhang’s ace-queen after he called the shove, but he couldn’t find any help on the board and exited as the final table bubble. Still, it wasn’t a bad way to cap off his day as Fan walked away with a $5,000 ticket to the 2026 January King Poker Cup Opening Event, securing himself an early seat for next year.
Chen An LinTrail of Fallen Titans
The Final Day was packed with storylines, from stunning comebacks and brutal coolers to cracked aces and the fall of multiple pros. Among the million-dollar lineup, Taiwan’s poker elite Chen An Lin was the first to hit the rail. His pocket nines couldn’t hold against Yuhan Liu’s rivered straight, bringing Chen’s run to an end in 16th place.
Following in Chen’s footsteps was another heavy name, Dylan Wayne Foster of Australia, who also fell victim to Yuhan Liu. Foster’s king-ten suited couldn’t outshine Liu’s hooks on a clean board, sending him to the rail in 15th place, just one spot above Chen.
A♠ the last player to fall from the million-dollar lineup, Jen Yue Chiang found himself on the wrong end of one of the day’s biggest coolers. Chiang’s pocket aces clashed with Koo’s pocket jacks, but the board ran out in favor of Koo, completing a flush and bringing Chiang’s deep run to a close.
Dylan Wayne FosterZhang Battles Through Ups and Downs to Claim the Title
After nearly twelve hours of intense play, Yuhao Zhang finally completed his remarkable journey, defeating Hui Liu in the final heads-up to claim the title and secure the most prestigious victory of his career.
Zhang’s day began on the back foot after losing a crucial double-up to Liu when his ace-six couldn’t improve against Liu’s ace-king. From there, however, Zhang clawed his way back, grinding through the field and picking up several key eliminations along the way, including Ben Fan, whose ace-nine fell to Zhang’s ace-queen.
Zhang then sent Chengxu Hu to the rail when his pocket eights held strong against Hu’s pocket sevens. Soon after, he added even more firepower to his stack by knocking out Zhihua Yang, his pocket kings cracking Yang’s pocket queens in a commanding hand.
Chengxu HuHowever, it seemed that Hui Liu was destined to be Zhang’s nemesis, as once again Zhang bled chips to him, this time when Liu turned kings. Liu wasn’t done there; a few hands later, he punished Zhang even further, making him pay dearly with pocket eights in another costly pot.
Before entering the final heads-up, Zhang faced off against Jeongmo Koo. Zhang seized Koo’s stack with a turned two pair against Koo’s flopped pair, securing the elimination and heading into the final duel with the chip lead in hand.
Hui LiuDespite the final duel lasting only five hands, Zhang endured quite a ups and downs. Hui Liu steadily chipped away at his stack, even making him pay dearly for a flopped pair of aces. Zhang’s hopes rested on catching a diamond on the river, but the board cruelly bricked out with a spade, giving his chip lead away.
Nonetheless, Zhang didn’t let the setback last long. He soon regained the chip lead, making Liu pay for his flopped queens when Liu came up one diamond short on the river.
In the very next hand, Zhang capped off his day in spectacular fashion with one of the sickest hands of the tournament. Liu shoved with pocket fours against Zhang’s pocket aces. Just when it seemed Liu was set for victory, the flop delivered a full house for Liu, fours full of kings. But the deck had one final twist: the king on the river gave Zhang kings full of aces, toppling Liu’s boat and securing the win.
Yuhao ZhangWith that dramatic river, Zhang sealed his triumph, claiming the title and the most prestigious victory of his career.
