With Stausholm ahead, the dealer flopped 6♣ 8♠ K♦ . For some reason, however, Tan cheered the flop as if he hit the board. The turn 2♠ maintained Stausholm's lead who was hoping to double up. But the river 9♠ got a real cheer from Tan for hitting the board and eliminating Stausholm in the process.

The Naing opened the button with 320,000 to be re-rasied by Phuong Nguyen Tan to 580,000. After throwing a time bank in, The Naing annoucnd all-in and got called by Tan.

The flop dropped K♥ 2♣ J♠ which gave Tan a pair of kings on the board beating The Naing's queens. The turn 4♦ and the river 4♣ didn't improve The Naing's hand eliminating him in 4th place.

Phuong Tan opened on the button and Manuel Blaschke next to him in the small-blind three-bet to 580,000. Tan made the call and the players saw a flop of K♥ Q♦ 5♠ . Both players checked and the turn brought the 2♠ . Blaschke bet out 395,000 which Tan called.

On the river appeared the inconspicuous 3♥ . Blaschke bet out 700,000, a huge chunk of his stack. Tan responded with a jam to which Blaschke had to fold. Tan proudly tabled his hand A♥ 4♥ for a runner-runner straight.

Martin Stausholm opened for 120,000 and was met with three callers: Phuong Nguyen Tan on the hijack, Motoyoshi Okamura in the small blind, and Julian Warhurst in the big blind.

Everyone checked the flop of A♣ A♦ 4♠ , with Tan remarking his famous "Uh-oh." The turn A♥ saw Okamura bet 175,000, which was called by Warhurst, while Stausholm and Tan folded.

The river came 6♣ , and Okamura checked. Warhurst seized the opportunity to shove all-in for 1,700,000. After some thought, Okamura folded, and Warhurst took down the pot.

Phuong Nguyen Tan opened with 1,020,000 of his chips to the center of the felt leaving behind one 5,000-chip under-the-gun. Action got folded to the big blind Nevan Chang who, after checking his cards, made the call.

A♠ Tan only had 5,000 behind, Chang announced a blind all-in. The dealer flopped A♠ 2♥ 6♥ to which Tan goes, "I think you have a draw," then threw in his last chip in the pot.

Nevan Chang: 9♠ 9♥

Tan hit a pair of aces on the board leaving Chang to hope that his hand improves. The turn T♦ solidified Tan's lead and with the river K♠ Tan doubled up at the expense of Chang.

Phuong Nguyen Tan raised in middle position raised to 130,000 to be three-bet by Manuel Blaschke immediately to his left to 250,000. Win Meng Tan needed to throw in a time bank to consider his action given the pot size. He eventually decided to four-bet to 390,000. Tan got out of the way but Blaschke made the call.

The flop dropped 9♦ 7♣ J♣ which Blascke check-raised all-in for 500,000 after Tan bet 100,000. Tan immediately mucked his hand.

The Naing opened from middle-position and Nevan Chang two seats over, three-bet to 150,000. Phuong Tan, who has been a joy to watch due to his entertaining character, wasted no time and moved all-in for around 2,000,000. Chang made the call, and his tournament life was at risk.

After sixteen 40-minute levels, Day 1 of the APT Phu Quoc VND 120,000,000 Super High Roller is in the books with 13 players remaining. A total of 55 entries (37 unique) were recorded at the Corona Theater, with numerous notable players generating a prize pool of VND 5,761,800,000 (~$226,840).

Naing maintained his momentum through the final level, capping off Day 1 perfectly by scooping a pot against Van Dong with turned trip queens, shortly after eliminating Dylan Foster with ace-queen.

The second-highest stack belongs to Denmark’s Martin Godsk Stausholm, the 2019 APT Manila High Roller Single Day champion, who surpassed the three-million milestone in total live earnings, accumulated impressive 2,340,000 chips to start Day 2.

Other notable players advancing to the Final Day include Mikael Andersson (920,000), Julian Warhurst (875,000), 2023 APT Incheon High Roller 8-Max champion Thanisorn Saelor (800,000), and Nevan Chang (245,000).

Both read a flop of K♥ 4♥ 5♠ , and Tan checked the action to Manuel, who bet 30,000. Tan dropped in a call to see the board-pairing 5♥ land on the turn. The action went check-check.

The Q♣ dropped on the river, where Tan checked again to his opponent, and Manuel fired out a barrel of 380,000, forcing Tan to fold.

Julian Warhurst opened the cutoff to 40,000, and Phuong Tan three-bet to 110,000 on the button, which only Zhongxian Li called from the small blind.

Both players read a flop of 7♥ K♦ Q♦ and checked through to see a J♥ fall on the turn. The action went check-check again.

The river carried out a 6♥ , where the two kept the pace and checked to a free showdown. Tan tabled a flopped pair of kings with K♣ 9♣ to best a turned pair of jacks from Li’s A♠ J♣ .

Nevan Chang opened the cutoff to 40,000, and Julian Warhurst shoved all in on the button, which only Phuong Tan called.

Warhurst picked up the lead with pocket queens against Tan’s pocket tens. A dry board ran out 8♠ 8♣ 6♦ 4♥ 2♥ , sealing a double up for Warhurst.

Phuong Tan raised to 35,000 from under the gun and Blaschke Manuel called on the button.

A flop rolled off 2♠ 5♦ 2♣ , and the two checked through to see an 8♥ fall on the turn, where they kept the pace and checked.

The river showed A♥ , and both elected to check to a free showdown. Tan tabled flopped trips of deuces with K♦ 2♦ , leaving Manuel to much his hand.

Win Meng Tan from under the gun, Gab Yong Kim from the hijack, and Phuong Tan on the button limped in, which Milos Skrbic checked from the big blind.

Four players saw a flop of A♥ 4♣ 8♠ , this was followed by a string of checks until Kim, who bet 17,000. Skirbic and Tan called to see the 8♣ turn, where Skirbic and Tan checked over, and Kim bet 30,000 this time. Skrbic folded. Tan put in a raise to 80,000, but this didn’t deter Kim from making a shove. Tan snap-called.

Tan picked up the lead flopping a set of aces, which improved to a full house on the turn, leaving Kim's turned trips eights with little chance to win. The dealer sent a T♠ , also upgrading Kim’s trips to a full house but still no match for Tan’s.

Nguyen Tan Phuong is one of the most entertaining players to be seen in Day 1 of the APT Super High Roller. It certainly helps as well that he is running well today. In a blind versus blind situation he raised it up to 28,000 against the completion of Mingcong Chen. The small-blind called and both players saw a flop of A♣ J♠ 4♥ .

Chen started with a check, same went for Nguyen. The turn brought the 8♦ and Chen started the postflop betting with a 25,000 bet. Nguyen called and the river was the 6♠. Chen put out a strong bet of 80,000 and without blinking an eye Nguyen moved all-in. The baffled Chen had to throw his hand into the muck.

The players are now on their 75-minute dinner break. Registration will still be open throughout that break, but will close once level 12 is underway.
