Gia Nguyen Ace-King Eliminates Tan

Level 19: 5,000 / 10,000 ante: 10,000

Everyone folded to the blinds, and Gia Trung Nguyen raised to 106,000 from the small blind. Dong Van Tan, in the big blind, responded by shoving all-in for his tournament life.

Dong Van Tan: K 6

Gia Trung Nguyen: A K

Seeing Nguyen’s dominating hand, Tan let out a frustrated sigh, anticipating a tough outcome. The flop came 8 2 Q , keeping Nguyen ahead with ace-high. The turn 9 changed nothing, and the river K sealed Tan’s fate, sending him out of the tournament.

Unorthodox Lead Leads to Win

Level 15: 2,000 / 4,000 ante: 4,000

Vietnamese regular Van Tan Dong opened from early-position and got three-bet by the Indian Romit Advani in middle-position. Dong called and both players saw the T 6 6 flop. Dong checked and Romit continued with a 14,000 bet. Dong called.

The turn brought the 3 and instead of the expected check from Dong, the Vietnamese player put out a 34,000 donk bet. Interesting line by him, which worked out as Advani layed down his hand.

After grabbing the title of the 2024 APT Jeju Super Hyper Turbo – Win The Button, Philippines’ Charles Pansoy (226,800) is not going to let go of the chance to add another trophy to his record. He kept his ambition high and claimed yet another elimination by going all in with his pocket fours against Jennifer Cassel’s ace-deuce.

Motoyoshi Okamura (134,800), the 2022 APT Korea Incheon High Rollers champion, scored a thrilling double-up at the end of the last level, with his jack-nine blossoming into quads by the end of the hand.

Other notables to managed it to Day 2 include Taiwan’s Chi Jen “Justin” Chu (147,300), China’s Peng Chen (144,500), France’s Adrien Favre (122,500), and South Korea’s Gab Yong Kim (97,600).
