APT Main Event (36,000,000 VND)

Flight B of the VND 36M APT Main Event has concluded with 204 entries (156 unique) generated following six 45-minute and four 60-minute levels, with 66 players bagging up their chips and coming back for Day 2 on Thursday, Nov. 14th.

Russia's Sergei Korzhenko sits at the top of the leaderboard after consistently chipping up throughout the day. He will start Day 2 with 372,300 chips. For a few levels of the day, he could be observed engaging in exciting battles with fellow big stack Nang Quang Nguyen who was sitting on his left.

The Vietnamese professional, with over USD 1 million in live earnings, ended the day second in chips, bagging 323,000. The podium of Flight B was completed by the China's Kaihua Huang with 306,200 chips. Huang continued the great run he is having here at APT Phu Quoc after winning Event #11 Super Hyper Turbo, and finishing in 4th place in Event #28 Tick Tock Boom!.

One player who will certainly be excited for Day 2 of the Main Event is Vietnam's own Pham Thanh Nghia. In one of the last hands of the day his pocket queens helped him to finish with 235,600, which puts him into the top 10 chip counts.

A nationality that will be represented well on Day 2 is Thailand with ten players in Flight B making it through. Both Phanlert Sukonthachartnant (171,300), and Kannapong Thanarattrakul (152,200) are two players to look out for on Thursday, sitting in #4 and #2 respectively on the Thailand All-Time Money List.

Other notables to make it through include Singapore's The Naing (139,500), Australia's Yita Choong (121,000), Cypriot bracelet winner Georgios Skarparis (97,100), Sweden's Mikael Andersson (88,800), and the Philippines' David Erquiaga (43,800).

In one of the last hands of Flight B Pham Nghia opened from middle-position and An Binh next to him moved all-in for 11,800. Sehoon Yoon in late-position raised to 25,000 and Nghia had a decision to make. After a couple of minutes he decided on a call.

The flop came down T♥ T♠ 5♥ which Nghia and Yoon both checked.

On the 4♣ turn Nghia bet 16,000 which Yoon called. The 2♦ river went without action.

Nghia took down the pot, celebrating with his friend, while Binh busted right at the end of the day.

Action was picked up on a completed board as Pham Thanh Nghia raised to 30,000 following a 13,000 bet from Nguyen Hoa Thinh.

The board showed 6♠ T♣ T♥ 4♣ K♠ . Thinh hesitated, deeply in thought before making the call. Nghia revealed J♦ T♠ for trips, hitting the flop hard. With a look of dismay, Thinh shook his head as Nghia scooped up the pot.

The action was picked up on the turn with a board running out 8♠ J♠ T♥ 9♥ and around 14,500 chips in the middle when Justin Tsui checked the action from the cutoff to Pham Nghia on the button, who bet 11,000. Tsui made the call.

The 3♠ came on the river, where the action went check-check. Tsui tabled a flush with A♠ T♠ to rival a straight from Nghia’s Q♦ J♦ .

The action was picked up on the flop of 2♥ 6♥ 5♣ with around 15,000 chips in the middle when Pham Nghia from under the gun and Salven Popov from the hijack check-called after Litasov Vladimir bet 4,7000 from the cut-off.

The 3♠ fell on the turn, and Nghia bet 13,400, which only Popov made the call to see an 8♠ land on the river, where Nghia shoved all in for 12,300 and Popov snap-called.

Nghia tabled a rivered straight with 9♣ 7♣ to beat a pair of fours from Popov’s 4♦ 4♣ .

After Pham Thanh Nghia checked the flop of 6♦ 7♣ 6♥ , Slaven Popov fired 3,800. Nghia alternately stared at the board and Popov. After some time, he raised to 8,600 which Popov called.

Both players checked the turn 7♦ but on the 2♠ Nghia tanked so long, Vladimir Litasov, who was on the table, had to call time on him. Before time ran out, Nghia, at risk, announced all-in and Popov snap-called.

Nghia caught trips on the flop which improved to a full house on the turn beating Popov's aces that only two-paired with the board. Popov remained unfazed as he gave Nghia some chips for a double up.

With such a short stack, Pham Thanh Nghia shoved all-in in the big blind after Kai An Chuang completed in small blind. Chuang made the call.

Chuang paired his king with the flop of 5♠ 7♣ K♣ . The turn 6♠ gave Nghia a bit of hope as it gave him additional outs with a gutshot draw. But the T♣ maintained Chunag's lead, eliminating Nghia from the tournament.

Slaven Popov opened the action from middle position. Juyeol Lee, at risk and seated immediately to his left, shoved all-in for 16,100. Pham Thanh Nghia, in late position, called. A bit surprised by the turn of events, Popov ultimately folded his hand, leaving Lee and Nghia to face off.

The dealer flopped Q♥ 3♥ 5♦ , giving Lee middle pair while Nghia hit top pair, leaving Lee with slim chances of survival.

Resigned to his fate, Lee watched as the turn brought 2♠ , maintaining Nghia's lead. But the river, J♦ , unexpectedly gave Lee two pair, sparking an audible sigh of relief, keeping him in the tournament.
