Thanh's Queens Ship Some Chips

Level 22: 10,000 / 20,000 ante: 20,000

Dinh Tien Thanh peeked into pocket queens from under the gun and made a min-raise when Nang Quang Nguyen re-popped to 110,000 from the next seat with an A 8 .

Thanh took another peek at his Q Q , threw in a few time-bank cards, wondered if a samurai sword would be efficient against zombies, then just made the call.

The flop came 8 2 3 which both checked to reveal a J on the turn.

Thanh then fired all-in for 387,000.

Nguyen went into some deep breathing meditation while chucking some time-bank tokens, before also chucking his cards to the muck.

Xuan Accumulates a Huge Stack at the End of the Day

Level 20: 6,000 / 12,000 ante: 12,000
Thieu Nghiem Xuan

Tuong Tran Khac opened for 24,000, and Thieu Nghiem Xuan raised to 50,000 from the cutoff. Nang Quang Nguyen called, while Khac folded, setting up a heads-up battle.

The flop came down A 8 7 . Nang Nguyen checked and called Xuan's 100,000 bet.

On the turn, 5 , Nang Nguyen again checked, and Xuan fired 150,000, which Nguyen called.

The river brought the 5 . Nang Nguyen threw in a time bank card to think through his options before ultimately checking. Xuan then used a time bank card of his own, deep in thought, before betting 250,000.

Nang Nguyen stared him down for a long moment before reluctantly making the call.

Xuan revealed A A , showing a set on the flop that improved to a full house on the river. Frustrated, Nang Nguyen mucked his hand, clearly dismayed at how the hand had played out.

Nguyen-Nguyen Situation

Level 20: 6,000 / 12,000 ante: 12,000
Nang Quang Nguyen

On the turn, Nang Quang Nguyen bet 40,000 on a board showing 9 3 2 T . Gia Trung Nguyen raised to 105,000, and after some thought, Nang Nguyen made the call.

The river brought the Q , prompting Nang Nguyen to throw in a time bank card as he considered his options. Facing Gia Nguyen’s big stack, Nang knew a wrong move could be costly. Finally, he bet 185,000, and Gia Nguyen quickly called.

Both players sighed in relief as they tabled the same hand—Nang with K J and Gia with K J . They shared a lighthearted exchange as they waited for the dealer to split the pot.

Huge Stacks Don't Need a Flop

Level 19: 5,000 / 10,000 ante: 10,000
David "Spade" Erquiaga

David Erquiaga opened under the gun for 24,000, and Nang Quang Nguyen, sitting directly to his left, three-bet to 100,000. Gia Trung Nguyen then decided to up the stakes further with a four-bet to 210,000.

Erquiaga folded quickly, while Nang Nguyen glanced at Gia Nguyen with a perplexed expression, carefully separating the 210,000 from his stack before ultimately folding.

as Gia Nguyen raked in the pot, Toung Tran Khac leaned over to his seatmate Shardul Aramudha, remarking that he didn’t want to shove with king-jack but, given the other players’ stack sizes, he might have no choice if the opportunity arose.

Nang Qhang Nguyen Wins Massive Pot

Level 15: 2,000 / 4,000 ante: 4,000

It folded around to Chunhui Ji on the button who opened to 8,000. Nang Quang Nguyen in the big-blind put the pressure on with a three-bet to 34,000. Knowing how aggressive Quang Nguyen can be. Ji responded with a four-bet to 89,000. Nguyen called and a massive pot was brewing.

The flop came down J T 2 , which both players checked. On the 4 turn Nguyen put out a massive bet of 180,000. Ji called, leaving himself around 210,000 behind.

The river came the spicy A and Nguyen moved all-in, covering Ji. The Chinese player was in a very tough spot with the money bubble nearing quickly, and Nguyen's aggressive image. After multiple minutes, eventually, he decided to call.

Chunhui Ji: T 9

Nang Quang Nguyen: J T

It has to be said, there was controversy as to whether the T 9 were Ji's cards, as he threw his cards into the muck, and the dealer had to choose which cards to pick after Nguyen tabled his two pair. Ji confirmed those were his cards, leaving the table in disbelief.

Sergei Korzhenko Comes Out On Top Of Flight B of the VND 25 Billion GTD APT Main Event

Level 10: 600 / 1,200 ante: 1,200
Sergei Korzhenko

Flight B of the VND 36M APT Main Event has concluded with 204 entries (156 unique) generated following six 45-minute and four 60-minute levels, with 66 players bagging up their chips and coming back for Day 2 on Thursday, Nov. 14th.

Russia's Sergei Korzhenko sits at the top of the leaderboard after consistently chipping up throughout the day. He will start Day 2 with 372,300 chips. For a few levels of the day, he could be observed engaging in exciting battles with fellow big stack Nang Quang Nguyen who was sitting on his left.

The Vietnamese professional, with over USD 1 million in live earnings, ended the day second in chips, bagging 323,000. The podium of Flight B was completed by the China's Kaihua Huang with 306,200 chips. Huang continued the great run he is having here at APT Phu Quoc after winning Event #11 Super Hyper Turbo, and finishing in 4th place in Event #28 Tick Tock Boom!.

Kannapong Thanarattrakul

One player who will certainly be excited for Day 2 of the Main Event is Vietnam's own Pham Thanh Nghia. In one of the last hands of the day his pocket queens helped him to finish with 235,600, which puts him into the top 10 chip counts.

A nationality that will be represented well on Day 2 is Thailand with ten players in Flight B making it through. Both Phanlert Sukonthachartnant (171,300), and Kannapong Thanarattrakul (152,200) are two players to look out for on Thursday, sitting in #4 and #2 respectively on the Thailand All-Time Money List.

Other notables to make it through include Singapore's The Naing (139,500), Australia's Yita Choong (121,000), Cypriot bracelet winner Georgios Skarparis (97,100), Sweden's Mikael Andersson (88,800), and the Philippines' David Erquiaga (43,800).

Quang Kiem Nguyen Doubles Up from Nang Quang Nguyen's Huge Stack

Level 9: 600 / 1,200 ante: 1,200

Quang Kiem Nguyen opened to 2,500 from the cut-off, and was met with a call from Nang Quang Nguyen, the tournament chip leader, who sat in the big blind.

The flop came down: 5 K J . Nang Nguyen checked to Quang Nguyen, who bet 2,500. Nang Nguyen called.

The action heated up on the turn, 8 , when Quang Nguyen fired 9,000 into the pot. Nang Nguyen responded with a dramatic all-in shove for nearly 300,000, forcing Quang Nguyen to go all-in himself, putting his tournament life at risk.

Quang Kiem Nguyen: 8 5

Nang Quang Nguyen: A K

Nang Nguyen caught top-pair on the flop while Quang Nguyen hit bottom pair which improved on the turn. The 4 didn't change Quang Nguyen's lead giving him a double up from the huge stack of Nang Nguyen

Big Stacks Collide Blind Versus Blind

Level 7: 400 / 800 ante: 800
Nang Quang Nguyen

It folded all the way around to the Russian Sergei Korzhenko in the small-blind who opened up the action against Nang Nguyen in the big-blind. The Vietnamese player responded with a three-bet to 8,000. The Russian called and the flop came down T 8 6 . Both players checked.

On the A turn Korzhenko checked once more and Nguyen bet out 2,500. The small-blind raised to 11,000 and Nguyen called.

The river 5 went without any action again. Korzhenko let out a small outcry of disappointment as he tabled his 6 6 for a flopped set. Nguyen showed A Q for a missed flush draw and top pair.

This could have gone much worse for either player, especially considering both players had huge stacks.
