Marcial Gambles And Busts

Level 27: 30,000 / 60,000 ante: 60,000

SJ Kim made the raise to 120,000 and got called by Lou Marcial & Daniel Lee for a three-way pot entering a flop of J 4 2 .

Lee checked from the big blind and SJ Kim measured out Marcial's stack of 170,000 and made a 70,000 bet. It didn't take long for Marcial to push his 170,000 all-in. Lee stepped out of the way for a Kim vs Marcial duel.

Kim showed A J for a top pair while Marcial flipped Q T, hoping for a queen or a diamond. The turn threw a 5 and the poker gods sealed the fate of Marcial with a 9 on the river.

Marcial's bustout brought a pause to the tournament as the final sixteen players will redraw seats for the final two tables.

Tate Stays Alive

Level 22: 10,000 / 20,000 ante: 20,000
Ronnie Tate

Lou Marcial opened for 45,000, called by Ron Tate in the small blind and Minjeong Kim in the big blind. The flop came down 4 5 7 and all three players checked.

On the T turn, Tate led out with 20,000, and both Kim and Marcial called. The river 9 had Tate tanking. With just 19,000 left, he used a time bank card before eventually checking, as did Kim and Marcial.

Tate revealed K J , but Kim took the pot with her T 3 for a pair of tens. Marcial mucked his hand.

The very next hand after Yongseok Choi opened for 45,000 in middle position. With only 19,000 left, Tate shoved all-in from the button. Kim called Choi's raise as well Hisashi Yamanouchi from small and big blinds, respectively.

On the flop 6 2 T, Yamanouchi checked allowing Choi to shoot 83,000 into the pot. At this point, Tate stood up ready to leave the premises but waited for the action of Yamanouchi and the dealer to complete the board.

After thinking of his options, Yamanouchi folded his hand and Choi scooped the side pot.

Ron Tate: 6 6

Yongseok Choi: K T

After seeing Choi's hand, a visible smile spread across Tate's face having caught a set on the flop against Choi's pair of tens.

The 6 turn gave Tate quads making him sit down with glee. The dealer dealt the river 3 .

Mehra Doesn't Expect a Higher Flush

Level 14: 1,500 / 3,000 ante: 3,000

Moses Saquing raised to 6,000 from early position and received four callers to bring it into the streets.

On the flop of K 9 Q , a string of checks followed until Lou Marcial bet 11,500 on the button, which only Rishi Mehra dropped in a call from the small blind.

Both saw the 6 land on the turn, and the action went check-check. The 3 dropped on the river, where Mehra bet 21,000 only to face a raise to 60,000 from Marcial. After thinking for a while, Mehra made the call.

Mehra tabled a flush with 5 4 , but it was still no match for a straight from Marcial’s J T .

Marcial Cripples Mehra with Straight on the Flop

Level 12: 1,000 / 2,000 ante: 2,000

Alexander Keating opened to 10,000 and was quickly met with a re-raise to 24,000 from Lou Marcial on the button. Rishi Mehra, patiently waiting in the small blind, called, while Ilia Dropbin on big blind and Keating folded, leaving Marcial and Mehra in a heads-up showdown.

The flop revealed T Q 8, and Mehra checked. Without hesitation, Marcial shoved all-in for his tournament life. Mehra took a moment, weighed his options, and made the call.

Lou Marcial: J 9

Rishi Mehra: K J

Marcial had flopped a straight, while Mehra needed a nine to complete a higher straight and turn the tables. However, the turn K and river 6 brought no help for Mehra, who had to part with a significant chunk of his stack as Marcial celebrated his crucial double-up.
