The APPT Open has reached its final table after nearly 10 hours of Day 2 action. The tournament drew a total of 508 entries, generating a prize pool of PHP 26,334,720 (~USD 433,500), well clear of its PHP 15,000,000 (~USD 250,000) guarantee. The remaining nine players will return tomorrow at 12:00 PM local time to battle it out for the title.

Leading the way is India's Vinay Boob, who closes the day with a commanding 3,605,000. South Korea's Seungmook Jung sits right behind him with 3,565,000, while Edilberto Gopez, fresh off a 3rd-place finish in the PokerStars Red Dragon, rounds out the top three with 2,285,000.

The Day's Action

Boob set the tone early and never let up. His chip lead was extended in dramatic fashion when Emmanouil Chalkiotis four-bet jammed with ace-three, only to run into Boob's pocket aces, which held to send Chalkiotis, who had already staged one of the day's biggest comebacks after dropping to just 105,000, back to the rail.

Gopez also had a memorable session, picking up multiple knockouts on his way to the final table. His ace-ten held against Christopher Mateo's king-deuce shove, and he was involved in one of the wildest boards of the day against Viacheslav Zotov, whose pocket nines lost out to Gopez's jacks after quad fours landed on the turn, with Gopez's kicker proving decisive.

Notable Eliminations

The stretch toward the final table produced a string of quickfire knockouts. Sashank Badrinath was left with the worst of it in a three-way pot, holding the best hand on the turn only to be run down by Boob's rivered two pair.

Hao Lin fell in 16th place after his ace-king flip lost out to Boob's pocket sevens, while Andrei Kostitsyn's pocket queens couldn't hold up against Segundo Barte's paired ace-king in 15th.

Nail Aberkhaev exited in 11th place when his suited connector couldn't catch up to Barte's two pair, and Mc Yeldarb Mantos rounded out the eliminations in 10th, his ace-queen flip falling to Jung's pocket tens, which turned a set to officially set the final table.

Bad End for Badrinath

Segundo Barte raised from middle position and hijack Sashank Badrinath committed all but one of his 5,000 chips. Big blind Vinay Boob also called, and the three headed to the flop.

The dealer fanned 6♣ 7♣ K♦ and Boob checked; Barte stuck in 40,000, Badrinath committed his final chip, and Boob raised to 125,000, which was promptly called by Barte.

Both live players checked the 9♣ turn to the Q♠ river, where Boob led for 135,000 and Barte made another quick call. Boob flicked over K♥ Q♥, having rivered two pair, while Barte tabled A♠ K♠ in frustration.

Badrinath arguably had the worst fate of the three, holding the best hand on the turn with K♣ 9♦ for two pair, only to be run down by Boob on the river. The Indian was sent to the rail, with 20 players remaining.

APPT Open Day 2 Begins With Vinay Boob Out Front

The APPT Open returns today at APPT Manila 2026 after attracting a massive 508 entries, generating a PHP 26,334,720 (~USD 432,000) prize pool and comfortably surpassing its PHP 15,000,000 (~USD 250,000) guarantee.

A total of 75 players have advanced to Day 2, with every returning player already guaranteed a minimum payout of PHP 100,000 (~USD 1,625).

All eyes, however, are on the PHP 4,800,000 (~USD 78,070) top prize. In addition to the cash, both the champion and runner-up will receive an APPT Championship Package, while the 3rd- through 5th-place finishers will earn seats into the APPT Manila Main Event, which gets underway tomorrow.

Vinay Boob

Leading the field by a considerable margin is Vinay Boob, who bagged an impressive 830,000 chips after topping the Day 1B flight. His stack gives him a healthy cushion over the rest of the field entering Day 2.

Sitting in second is Edilberto Gopez with 596,000. Less than 24 hours ago, Gopez came within touching distance of the PokerStars Red Dragon title before finishing 3rd after several crucial all-in pots went against him. Now, he returns with another opportunity to chase an APPT trophy and put that heartbreak behind him.
