Galazan's Big Slick Scores a KO

Level 10: 600 / 1,200 ante: 1,200

Terry Gonzaga limped from the small blind before folding to Danrave Malalay's 3,700 raise in the big blind. Ilsung Kwon then raised from under the gun to 2,800 and collected the blinds.

Malalay raised to 2,500 from the button before folding to Ilsung Kwon's shove from the big blind.

Isaac Galazan then opened to 3,500 from middle position before facing a shove from button Jingliang Chen, for around 24,000. The blinds got out of the way, and Galazan quickly put in the call:

Asaki Tanaka Wins APPT Open for PHP 4,800,000 (~USD 78,070)

There is a new APPT Open champion at APPT Manila 2026.

After several days of action and outlasting a field of 508 entries, Japan's Asaki Tanaka emerged victorious to capture one of the festival's biggest titles. Tanaka takes home PHP 4,800,000 (~USD 78,070), an APPT Championship Package, the coveted APPT Shard, and the honor of being crowned the APPT Open champion.

It was a memorable run from the Japanese pro, who navigated a tough final table before sealing the title in a one-hand heads-up battle to add another major achievement to his poker resume.

Buttigieg check-called Kim's 1,600 bet following the 3♦ A♦ Q♦ flop.

Action repeated on the 9♥ turn, this time for 5,000.

The 9♣ completed the board and Kim slowed down with a check, with Buttigieg checking behind and turning over pocket tens, T♣ T♦, but it was no good against Kim's Q♥ J♣ for second pair.

Nasty River for Riga

Jannodin Riga opened to 1,500 from under the gun and received a call from Oliver Lirio in the next seat, plus big blind Andrea Burzio.

Burzio check-called when Riga fired 3,500 on the A♥ 3♥ 7♠ flop, and Lirio let his hand go.

On the 4♠ turn, Burzio checked again, calling once more after Riga's 9,000 bet.

The A♣ completed the board and Burzio moved all in with his covering stack. Riga stuck in the call, looking pretty sick to see he had been out-rivered by the Italian, who held A♠ 3♠, having made a full house.

Riga turned over A♦ K♠, took a photo, and left the table.

Hossein Haydari limped from middle position before button Nohad Teliani three-bet shoved for around 8,000, and big blind Raymond Tiu committed the remainder of his ~7,500 chips too. Haydari thought for a moment before eventually tossing in the call, and the three tabled their cards:

The 5♥ turn, however, sealed both short stacks' fates, improving Haydari to a full house, and the 8♥ completed the board, sending both players to the rail.

Henrik Tollefsen raised to 900 from early position and was joined to the flop by Alfie Adam in the cutoff, plus big blind Emelito Dela Cerna.

Dela Cerna checked the 8♥ 6♠ K♠ flop, as did Tollefsen. Adam then fired 1,500, to which Dela Cerna check-raised to 4,500, prompting a swift fold from Tollefsen. Adam then re-raised to 10,500, at which point the Filipino moved all in with his covering stack.

Adam looked a little concerned but stuck in the call.

APPT Main Event Day 1A Gets Underway with PHP 60,000,000 Guaranteed

The marquee event of APPT Manila 2026 has arrived. The PHP 80,000 (~USD 1,300) buy-in APPT Main Event carries a massive PHP 60,000,000 (~USD 976,000) guaranteed prize pool, with Day 1A getting underway today at 12:00 PM local time at Cove Manila, Okada Manila.

Players will play 40-minute levels throughout the day, with late registration open until Level 10 at 7:25 PM.

Last year's edition saw the Philippines' Justin Ong complete a remarkable double, capturing the Main Event title for PHP 14,800,000 (~USD 256,370) just days after also winning the PokerStars Red Dragon at the same festival, a combined haul of more than PHP 19,000,000 (~USD 326,000).
