There were some laughs from around the table at the Japanese player's holding, as Barte seemed in a good spot to find a little more breathing room. The J♣ 4♦ A♠ flop supported this too, giving Barte the better pair.

The 3♥ turn, however, was not so funny, giving Ishihara two pair and vaulting him in front.

Barte was sent to the rail in 15th place in cruel fashion as the 5♥ completed the board.

Kasuga Dai

Sumay Mishra raised to 10,000 from middle position, which was called by hijack Kasuga Dai and small blind Fendy Kosasih. Big blind Rudy Edenata then squeezed to 40,000 and only Dai made the call.

The dealer fanned the 2♦ 2♣ A♠ flop and Edenata peeked at his cards before checking. Dai fired 22,000 in before instantly facing a check-shove from Edenata and his covering stack, sending the Japanese player into the tank.

After a timebank and some strained looks, he eventually put in the call.

John Tan started the day as second in chips but clearly has his sights set on the top spot. He's chipped up by around 150,000 in the opening stages of the day.

Manuel Geronimo opened with a 10,000 raise from under the gun before folding to Tan's 28,000 three-bet.

The next hand saw cutoff Tan raise to 12,000 and Edwards Lawford defend his big blind. Lawford check-folded on the 6♦ 3♦ 9♣ flop when Tan fired 9,000.

Hijack Feras Elnatsha then open-jammed for 63,000 and collected the blinds.

Tan then raised to 10,000 once more, this time from the hijack, and big blind Kohei Takami made the call.

Takami check-called Tan's 10,000 continuation-bet on the 3♣ A♦ 5♥ flop. The action repeated on the 2♣ turn, this time for 25,000.

The A♠ completed the board and Takami led for 80,000. The Japanese player had barely put the chips into the middle before Tan made the call, flicking over A♣ 4♣ for a turned straight, to the shock of the table. Takami showed K♦ J♥.

PokerStars Red Dragon Sets New High With 579 Entries

The PokerStars Red Dragon has officially closed registration with 579 entries, surpassing last year's 433-entry field and generating a PHP 25,012,800 (~USD 408,000) prize pool, nearly doubling the PHP 15,000,000 (~USD 245,000) guarantee.

Only 87 players remain, with each already assured of PHP 80,000 (~USD 1,300). The eventual champion will take home PHP 4,550,000 (~USD 74,005), while the champion and runner-up will also receive an APPT Championship 2026 Package. Third through fifth place will each earn a seat to the APPT Championship Main Event.

Chulwoo Park

South Korea's Chulwoo Park returns as the overall chip leader with 732,000 (146 big blinds), followed by the Philippines' John Clyde Tan on 496,000 (99 big blinds). Meanwhile, defending champion Justin Ong fired multiple bullets but failed to advance.
