The action was joined with big blind Xuan Zhang all in and at risk for 21,600, and cutoff Taku Okamura agonising over whether to commit the rest of his chips after he'd called, before small blind Woo Hyon Shin shoved his covering stack to put Okamura all in.

Eventually he opted to fold and Shin and Zhang flicked over their holdings:

Hamazaki Turns Up

Ayaka Suzuki opened to 2,000 from under the gun before being three-bet to 5,700 from Ka Chun Yuan in the next seat. Button Gaku Hamazki cold-called before Suzuki four-bet to 17,000 and only Hamazki stuck around.

The dealer fanned the T♣ T♠ 6♠ flop and Suzuki led for 10,000, Hamazaki stuck in the call after tanking.

Suzuki shoved her covering stack on the Q♦ turn, and Hamazaki didn't need much time to make the call, turning over A♥ Q♥ and making top pair. Suzuki looked sick as she turned over pocket jacks J♣ J♥, having chosen the wrong time to shove.

The river was a picture card, but not the one Suzuki needed, and she awarded the full double to Hamazki and was left with just a few big blinds.

The flop came J♥ K♥ 4♥ and it was checked to Guo, who continued for a bet of 2,000. Huang and Noda folded, but Hashimoto called.

The 4♠ fell on the turn and Hashimoto checked again. Guo bet 5,000 and Hashimoto check-raised all in for 15,400 total. Guo called with the bigger stack and hands were revealed.

Maxim Lykov opened to 800 from early position and was called by Shoma Takeuchi in the cutoff. Yifan Zhang then squeezed to 3,200 on the button, which got a call from Lykov, but a back-shove from Takeuchi for over 30,000 total.

Both Zhang and Lykov let their hands go, awarding a nice pot to Takeuchi uncontested.

Yoshiyuki Kamaga opened to 1,000 from the hijack and was called by Woo Hyon Shin on the button and Cho Sang Hyun in the big blind.

Action checked through on the 9♦ 3♥ 8♥ flop and then Hyun led out for 1,600 on the T♦ turn. Kamaga called, but Shin folded.

The J♣ filled out the board and Hyun checked. Kamaga fired a bet of 5,000 into the middle and Hyun let his hand go after a bit of tanking.

Kenji Hamamoto opened to 600 from early position and was called by Ryan Park in the cutoff, Cho Sang Hyun on the button, Soichiro Hayashi in the small blind, and Gaku Kawai in the big blind for a casual five-way pot.

Action checked to Park, who bet 2,000 on the 8♦ 7♣ T♦ flop. Hyun moved all in for his last 6,700 and it was folded back around to Park, who called with a covering stack.

Park held the lead with two pair, but Hyun had a plethora of outs with his open-ended straight draw and flush draw.

Heads-up in what appeared to be a three-bet pot, Masatsugu Horiuchi bet 3,500 on a flop of T♠ 3♣ Q♣ from the small blind and Abdullah Akbarpoor called on the button.

Akbarpoor called a 8,000 barrel from Horiuchi on the 3♥ turn and then both players checked down on the Q♠ river.

Horiuchi could only show 9♣ 8♣ for a busted combo draw, and Akbarpoor revealed A♣ T♣ for queens and tens to claim the sizable pot.

Meanwhile, both Kozo Yamada and Amir Abbas busted, only to immediately reenter with fresh stacks of 30,000.

The K♥ fell on the turn and Kim checked again. Hamamoto sized up for a bet of 7,000 and Kim quickly folded.

Everyone checked on the 3♥ 3♣ A♥ flop and 5♠ turn, and then it was checked to Lim, who bet 3,000 on the 3♠ river. None of his opponents wanted anything to do with it and quickly folded, conceding the pot to Lim.

APPT National Flight B Set to Begin at 11 A.M.

The second opening flight of the APPT National is set to get underway at Paradise City Resort, with players returning to the felt for another chance to secure their place in Day 2. Flight A attracted 87 players and saw 13 advance, with Shaoshuai Li leading the survivors. Flight B will give a fresh field the opportunity to join them in the next stage of the tournament.

Li finished Flight A with 416,000 chips, followed by Takahiro Nagano with 381,000 and Tae Hoon Han with 348,000. All 13 Flight A survivors have already secured a spot in the money and will return for Day 2 on Wednesday, September 9 a noon.

Flight B will get underway at 11 A.M. local time. Players will begin with 30,000 in chips and play through 40-minute levels, with blinds starting at 100/200 with a 200 big-blind ante. Just like Flight A, play will continue until approximatley 15 percent of the field remains, with all survivors securing a seat into to Day 2 and a spot in the money.

Those who don't manage to make it through Flight B will still have one final opportunity to qualify, with Flight C scheduled to begin at 6:30 P.M. later this evening. The final flight will feature the same 30,000-chip starting stack and 100/200 blinds with a 200 big-blind ante, but levels will be shortened to 20 minutes in a turbo format.
