CPG Championship Day 2 Highlights: Han Dilong and Quang Huy Nguyen Among The Big Stacks

The 12th CPG Championship festival gained momentum on its second day, drawing double the entries for its 12th Anniversary Special and seeing a strong turnout at the Free Trade Port Cup High Roller event. The day featured many notable Chinese players, along with an increase in international attendance, several of whom navigated the day’s challenges. Here are the highlights.

The 12th Anniversary Special attracted 268 players on opening day with a surge of 538 players at Day 1B for a combined total of 806 entries. One of the day’s early highlights was the arrival of American elite player Daniel Cates aka Jungleman however his hunt didn’t last long. Also seen in action was two-time bracelet winner Xixiang Luo from China. Just like Cates, Luo missed the mark.

One of the hardest to fall was Yixuan Dong on a cooler during the last hands of the day with KdKh running into AcAd. This sent Dong plunging to which she could not recover.

On the flip side, the only non-Chinese player to make the cut in this heat was Doan Quang Trung. Trung was one of the day’s new arrivals from Vietnam.

Bagging up the largest stack of Day 1B was China’s Han Dilong with a towering 570,000, equivalent to 117 bb of the Day 2 starting blinds. Han Dilong topped the 98 survivors list and will be the incoming chip leader when the 146 players return.

The 12th CPG Championship kicked off on August 21 and will run until August 30 at the Howard Johnson Resort Sanya, Hainan Island, China. A total of 91 events fill the schedule with 40 trophy-bearing. Make sure to check out the player guide for all of the nitty gritty information.
