The APPT Super High Roller kicked off a little late but once the cards started flying, 38 runners coughed up the PHP 500,000 (~USD 8,665) buy in to build a prize pool of PHP 17,877,100 (USD 306,125). Some of the players in attendance were Trung Quan Nguyen, Huu Dung Nguyen, James Mendoza, Thomas Ward, and Florencio Campomanes, however they all missed the mark.

Powering through the star-studded field were Marc Rivera, and Quang Huy Nguyen. Mike Takayama continued his incredible run, holding the chip lead for some time. During the late rounds, Takayama knocked out Victor Chong on a cooler with QcQd over JcJs.

Just before the close of day, Gary Thompson surged past Takayama after knocking out Young Hoon Kim with 9d9s set over 8d7d on a board 8cQh9h7h3s.

Racking up the third largest was top Malaysian pro Michael Soyza. He was seen dragging in a big pot by eliminating Hyung Tai Kim who called Soyza’s five-bet shove with Ah4h only to run into Soyza’s AsAd.
