WPTDeepStacks Hanoi: Four way deal awards Pham Bao the Warm Up Event win; Nguyễn Gia Trung claims Single Day HR, Trần Đức Toàn wins Superstack

Day 2 of the inaugural WPTDeepStacks Hanoi concluded with three happy players lifting trophies off the awards shelf. At the Warm Up Event, Phạm Ngọc Quốc Bảo was recognized as champion after a four way deal, Nguyễn Gia Trung took down the Single Day High Roller, and Trần Đức Toàn came out victorious at the Superstack. You can find the results down below including what’s up next at the ongoing festival happening at the Crown Poker Club  until April 25.

Event 1: Warm Up Event – PHẠM NHỌC QUỐC BẢO – VNđ 315,000,000 (~US$ 13,663)

The two day Warm Up Event fired up the festival’s ignition with 357 entering across four starting heats. With buy in at VNđ 33,000,000 (~US$ 1,431), it boosted the pot to VNđ 2,181,630,000 (~US$ 94,630). 45 players returned on Day 2, each one guaranteed a cut. After an intense battle at four handed, the players opted on an ICM deal with Vietnamese pro Phạm Ngọc Quốc Bảo earning the trophy and VNđ 315,000,000 for his big stack. He has also taken over the top spot in the Player of the Series leaderboard.

Pham Bao winner
Champion Phạm Ngọc Quốc Bảo

Champion Phạm Ngọc Quốc Bảo is no stranger to winning. For the past five years, he has racked up a long list of achievements which include three victories at WPT events. His win today though will be the one most treasured as it awarded him his largest career cash.

Leading up to the final table, first to the money was shortest stacked Vũ Trung Thành (45th) followed by Trần Hùng Mạnh aka Macaron Tran (44th). Day 1A chip leader Nguyễn Ngọc Đại brought in the second largest stack but only got as far as 32nd place. Entering chip leader Nguyễn Van Sáng (Day 1C leader) fared better, exiting in 16th place for VNđ 27,200,000 (~US$ 1,179). The final table was formed at the fall of Nguyễn Bá Thịnh in 10th place.

Final table opened with Chu Thái Thịnh as chip leader which he held until Pham eliminated Trần An Khang (Day 1B chip leader) in 9th place. Trần bluff shoved on the river and got called by Pham with top pair. Lê Tân gave short stacked Lê Văn Quang (8th) the boot next, then Trần Thông Tùng took the lead after denying Nguyễn Chiến Hữu (7th) with two pair turned full house over a missed flush draw.

At six remaining, Pham regained the chip lead on a full boost off Trần who gambled with an open ended that fell flat to Pham’s trips. However, Pham’s stay up top was once again brief. Lê Đình Hải stole it upon emptying out Chu Thái Thịnh (6th) with KhJs top pair over 9h8h on a board Jd10s5c9c3s. From there, the lead switched from Lê Đình Hải to Pham, to Lê Tân, then back to Pham who railed Trần to amass over 60% of the chips in play. It was all in preflop with Pham KcQh outdrawing Trần JdJc when a queen graced the flop. At four remaining, Lê Đình Hải won a sizable pot off the leader Pham, though not enough to reclaim command. The players then opted on a four way ICM deal with Pham awarded the title and trophy. To relive the final table race, watch the recorded stream on the Crown Poker Club facebook page.
