Day 1C ran a lengthy 10 hours before the 36 ITM players were determined. Among the many casualties were local pros Cao Ngoc Anh, Macaron Tran, Huynh Ngoc Cuong, and Harry Duong. Other fallouts were Filipino Christopher Mateo, Malaysia‘s Jin Yong, Japan’s Satoshi Kuriga, and Singapore‘s Li Wenxuan who missed the mark on all three days.

When the Day 2 qualifiers return, they will all be guaranteed a minimum payout of VN₫ 13,500,000 but what they will be hunting down is the substantial VN₫ 875,000,000 (~US$ 37,764) first prize. Cards start flying at 11am on Sunday, May 22. In prime position are locals Mr Muoi and Phuong Xu, both players dominated Day 1C and bagged up nearly equal stacks.

Mr Muoi

Mr Muoi’s story was quite amazing. He climbed from just one ante to overall leader with 633,000 in chips. His biggest boost was trips Kings  AhKc over pocket Queens then just before the bubble round, he delivered a double knockout with QhQs set over Ks10h and JcJs on a board QcAd8s10d7d.

Phuong Xu

Before Mr Muoi made his ascent, Phuong Xu was already backed by a heavy arsenal and added more to it when he railed a player with As8h over Ad5s. He bagged up 632,000, just one yellow chip difference. Other players making the cut in this heat were USA’s Duy Ho, Vietnam’s Le Ngoc Khanh, and Hong Kong’s Ho Chi Chung

When the game resumes, it will no doubt be very thrilling with known pros also on the felt namely Terry Nguyen, Dang Van Hien, Gaurav Sood, WSOP bracelet champion Kartik Ved, and Teddy Pham.
