Fresh off the heels of a record breaking series, the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) opens its doors today to the World Poker Tour (WPT)! Running from August 8 to 21, 2023 at the newly built Asia Poker Arena, WPT Prime Taiwan boasts the richest and most extensive lineup ever announced by the global brand in Asia. Highlighting the festivities is none other than the Main Event which features a jaw-dropping USD 1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

2023 marks the CTP’s 8th year in the business and to share its good fortune, the club has announced two promotions for WPT Prime Taiwan players.
- The first 150 players seated at Level 1 of Main Event Day 1A will receive a voucher worth TWD 3,000 which can be used towards side events
- 3 Card NLH Flipout Freeroll for TWD 5,000 vouchers that can be used towards Main Event Day 1B entry. Starts at 10:30am on Friday, August 18.
Another incentive for players is the WPT Player of the Festival title. Offered at every WPT Prime event, this is one of the most coveted prizes. The player with the most points accrued at the end of the festival wins a WPT Passport worth USD 5,000 to any WPT Main Tour in 2023.
WPT Prime Taiwan Season XXI key highlights
WPT is one of the most highly revered tours around the world and each year, the brand stages several events in Asia. This year, the WPT has held Prime series events in Cambodia, India, and Vietnam, plus a special event in Korea. The brand’s return to Taiwan marks its last stop in the region this year.
Taking a look back, in 2022, long lines were seen daily at the WPT Prime Taiwan Main Event that a second room was needed to accommodate the crowd. With the recent opening of the Asia Poker Arena, the largest brick and mortar poker room in Asia, full house is once again expected with over 55 tables ready to welcome the incoming action.
The WPT Prime Main Event gets underway on August 17 and runs until August 21. For a buy in of TWD 33,000 (~USD 1,075), players have a shot at the mighty USD 1,000,000 guarantee. This is the largest tournament prize pool advertised by the WPT for Taiwan. To further display the worth of this event, the champion will receive a 2023 WPT World Championship seat worth USD 10,400. The WPT value-adds airfare and accommodation.
Leading up to the Main Event, the schedule features a plethora of games to try to secure a WPT side event trophy. Buy ins range from TWD 3,000 to TWD 300,000 with single day events and multi day events offered.
Among the highlights is the Main Event Warm Up featuring a TWD 3,000,000 (~USD 97,720) guarantee. This is great value with buy in of just TWD 10,000 (~USD 315). Be the first to capture a major title. The event opens the festival, running from today August 8 to 11.
Other big events are the Mystery Bounty TWD 5,000,000 (~USD 162,245) guaranteed from August 11 to 13 and 8 Max Championship TWD 2,000,000 (~USD 65,150) guaranteed from August 14 to 15.
For high rollers, ten events are lined up. The CTP High Stakes Challenge is the most expensive with buy in of TWD 300,000 (~USD 9,475). The WPT Prime Super High Roller and WPT Prime High Roller 3K are also high roller favorites and are certain to attract the creme de la creme of the region.
