WPT Korea 2024 Championship Event draws massive 1,065 entry field

The WPT Korea 2024 festivities at Landing Casino, Jeju Shinhwa World, South Korea, has been nothing short of exciting with its headlining Championship Event having just wrapped up its qualifying rounds. Three starting flights played through and drew in a total of 1,065 entries to easily boost the prize pool to a burly KR₩ 2,603,286,000 (~US$ 1,936,270). With the Day 1 rounds in the books, only 321 runners return to the felt for today’s Day 2 with Day 1A chip leader Lin Yan still holding down the top spot. The money is set to trickle down at 134 players which means over half the field returning today will go home empty handed.

Running alongside the Main Event Day 2 games are side events Limit 2-7 Triple Draw, Hyper Bounty NLH, and the two starting flights for the Mini Main Event.

USA’s Stanley Weng tops WPT Korea 2024 Championship Event Day 1C, China’s Lin Yan remains on top

The last flight on schedule racked up an additional 385 entries and coursed through another eleven levels of play, drawing down the field to 129 survivors joining the Day 2 qualifier list. USA’s Stanley Weng bagged the largest across the Day 1C games, bringing a sizeable 501,000 (167 BB) for the upcoming Day 2 festivities. Weng was amongst the big stacks after cracking Chen Tia Nai’s pocket kings by early evening and proceeded to consistently chip up to land the lead in the last two levels. Weng stands in 4th rank across the overall Day 2 counts with Day 1A chip leader Lin Yan still maintaining his top spot, followed by Day 1B chip leader Pan Hai. Also making it through the concluding flight are Asian notables Valeriy Pak (74 BB), Aaron Lim (50 BB), Chen An Lin (33 BB), and Carlos Chang (27 BB).

A massive KR₩ 2,603,286,000 (~US$ 1,936,270) in prizes is at stake with the eventual champion geared to receive the highly coveted WPT Korea Main Event Trophy and the region’s inaugural WPT Main Event Ring in addition to the KRW 434,936,000 (~USD 323,500) listed top payout.
