VSOP Championship VI underway! Chu Anh, Nguyen Quoc Chung, Nguyen Tuan Tai, Tran Ngoc Son capture trophies

 

The Viet Nam Series of Poker Championship VI is underway in Ha Noi, Vietnam! The popular homegrown festival is one of the most awaited by the locals as it promises to be richer than ever featuring ₫12 Billion (~$483,000) in guaranteed prize pools. The games lit up the felt on November 18 and will run through November 27. Two of the ten days have already completed with four players walking away as the festival’s first champions. We’ve got those winners listed below.

For those new to the VSOP Championship, this homegrown series has been increasing in popularity at every edition that the overall prize pool guarantee has been bumped up a generous ₫2 Billion from previous. The roster has also grown from 18 tournaments to 21. To assure everyone a chance at a trophy, all types of bankrolls have been addressed. Buy ins run from as low as ₫1.2 Million (~$48) to ₫55 Million (~$2,200).

One of the major draws will be the guaranteed events. The roster is populated with a total of 13 tournaments posting a minimum prize pool. The largest of the guarantees is ₫5,000,000,000 (~$201,200) featured at the series headliner Main Event. That event takes the floor from November 22 to 26 with buy in of ₫16,500,000 (~$665).

In addition to winning cash, the Main Event champion will also win an APT Da Nang Passport worth ₫33,000,000 plus round trip airfare and hotel accommodations for three nights. While the local force will surely dominate the tables in numbers, the VSOPC VI welcomes everyone. At the last edition, Singaporean pro Alex Lee was among the international players in attendance. He finished 5th at the Main Event. At the ongoing series, Norbert Koh has been spotted.

No stranger to winning local high roller events is Chu Anh who added another title to his belt. Anh shipped the Single Day High Roller, besting the 51-enty field for a payout ₫310,400,000 (~$12,500). This was a great start for this buy in bracket with the guarantee nearly doubled.

Nguyen Quoc Chung captured his first ever live poker title after overcoming the 85 entry field of the Bounty Event. This impressive maiden victory earned Nguyen the largest payout of ₫33,300,000 (~$1,340) and a trophy to kickstart his collection. 

The Bounty Event was the third event to hit the felt on opening day, and it was an immediate crusher with the prize pool rising to ₫163,900,000 (~$6,606).
