WPT Vietnam closes with Nguyen Van Dung winning High Roller 2; final results

From September 3 to 11, the World Poker Tour hosted WPT Vietnam, the first festival of the brand’s Season XVIII Asia-Pacific. The nine day event took place at the highly popular Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City. Among the final winners were Nguyen Van Dung and Yohwan Lim. Event #10: High Roller 2 – Nguyen Van Dung – VN₫ 2,599,993,000 (~US$ 112,000)

To cap the festival, the three-day High Roller 2 event guaranteed VN₫ 8 billion. It drew 137 (102 players, 35 re-entries) at VN₫ 77,000,000 (~US$ 3,300) each to push the pot to an even healthier VN₫ 9,302,300,000 (~US$ 401,000). Expectedly, a large number of pros participated. Vietnam’s Nguyen Van Dung stole the show. He tore past a rushing final table that saw him triumph in just 1.5 hours.

Event #12: WPT-Pro Poker Club Superstack Classic – Lim Yohwan – VN₫ 313,492,000 (~US$ 13,500)

Last to complete was the WPT-Pro Poker Club Superstack Classic with Korea’s Yohwan Lim overcoming a deficit at heads up against Hong Kong’s Fuk On Wong to win it and pocket VN₫ 313,492,000 (~US$ 13,500).

Amidst an eager rail, the final hand was full of excitement. With both players all in, Lim had AhKs and Wong with Ad6d. The flop was 7d8s9c, an open-ended for Wong. The turn 2c was a miss and so was the 4d for Lim to claim victory.

The event took place on the last two days of the festival. Signing up were 129 runners (93 uniques, 36 re-entries) and at VN₫ 11,000,000 (~US$ 475) each, it built a prize pool of VN₫ 1,251,300,000 (~US$ 54,000).
