WPT Philippines: Cao Ngoc Anh crushes the Super High Roller; Mike Takayama wins the Single Day HR

Catching up with the big guns at the WPT Philippines side events. Two days ago, Cao Ngoc Anh dominated the Super High Roller and Mike Takayama shipped the Single Day High Roller. We’ve got the results for you below.

Event 13: Super High Roller – Cao Ngoc Anh – Php 3,058,000 (~US$ 60,500)

Vietnamese pro Cao Ngoc Anh scored his largest live score at the Super High Roller to bring his overall career earningsa above US$ 300,000. Caofound himself under the media spotlight after his first major victory in July 2018 at the APT Vietnam Championships Event claiming over US$ 56k. He has since ran deep in numerous events, mostly on home soil. He will jump to 9th rank in the country’s All Time Money List for his latest achievement.

Briefly recapping his win, the event ran for two days. Day 1 brought in 7 players namely Cao, Hamish Crawshaw, Florencio Campomanes, Lester Edoc, Vincent Huang Minhee Gim, and Jun Obara. Cao crushed the competition, closing the day as the overwhelming chip leader with a 4:1 lead over Minhee who was the only other player that survived.

Entries were still open before the start of Day 2. This brought in another 3 entries, Crawshaw, Campomanes, and new player Mike Takayama. Cao was too massive to overcome. He faced Crashaw at heads up. The final hand was Cao 7c7h, Crawshaw Qc10h, the board was 2c10d5s4c7d set over top pair.

Event 14: Single Day High Roller – Mike Takayama – Php 1,236,000 (~US$ 24,400)

Filipino poker superstar Mike Takayama had every reason to celebrate. While a large field gathered to test their skills at Main Event Day 1A, Takayama put his efforts at the Single Day High Roller. He overcame a deficit at heads up against Korea’s Cho Naeyon to claim Php 1,236,000 (~US$ 24,400).

This was by no means his largest live score though. Takayama’s long list of achievements includes a victory at the WSOP in 2018 for a six-figure payout of US$ 198,568. That is his largest live score to-date. He is currently ranked 2nd in the Philippines All Time Money List.
