With the success of last year’s inaugural WPT Australia series , there is no surprise that the World Poker Tour would be coming back to the country anytime soon. Earlier this week, the internationally televised gaming and entertainment brand announced three new WPT festivals to take place at The Star Gold Coast, Australia in the next 14 months.

This WPT Australia Main Event marks the first-ever WPT Main Tour event in Australia and the second WPT Main Tour stop in the Asia-Pacific region in Season XIX coming after the WPT Cambodia leg on July 15-28, 2020.

The previous WPT Australia stop last September 2019, although not a Main Tour event, received an extensive turnout of 658 entries for the AU$ 2,500 (~US$ 1,655) Main Event. The high attendance generated a massive prize pool of AU$ 1,480,500 (~US$ 1,002,447) for the tournament bringing Hari Varma’s top prize to a nice AU$ 274,27 (~US$ 185,693).

Chief Operating Officer of The Star Gold Coast, Jess Mellor, called the festival the most successful poker event in Queensland history, adding

The numbers have exceeded our expectations. Our state-of-the-art poker facility has been buzzing and to see our new poker space at full capacity for the first WPT Australia event was something special”.

Season XIX: WPTDeepStacks Gold Coast – April 23 – May 3, 2021

Strengthening its presence in the country even more, WPT together with its partner establishment will host WPTDeepStacks for the WPTDeepStacks Gold Coast festival that will take place from April 23 – May 3, 2021 with Main Event featuring a AU$ 1,500 (~US$ 993) buy-in from April 29 – May 3, 2021.

Angelica Hael, VP of Global Tour Management for the World Poker Tour, added, “The World Poker Tour’s relationship with The Star Gold Coast continues to blossom and these three festivals will only add more reasons for our loyal players to visit this poker hotbed.
