Addamo picks a good Sunday Million to win

Sunday saw its customary flagship Sunday Million tournament dressed up in its WCOOP attire as it formed event 13 of the 2019 WCOOP. The highest buy in for the event was $5,200 and as you might expect, the virtual felt was awash with online talent. Once the 272 players had been culled to just 2, former Australian now residing in Thailand, Michael “imluckbox” Addamo squared off against formidable Fin, Samuel “€urop€an” Vousden. Addamo was able to get the best of the confrontation to add a WCOOP title to the SCOOP one he already owns and bank $258,952.

This impressive victory was not Addamo’s only triumph this month, as he also took down the $2,100 Sunday High Roller on PokerStars on the same evening for $43,029. The double dose of online glory follows on from what has been a good couple of months for Addamo, with his last four live cashes having all been six-figure scores and top 3 finishes. There is still almost two weeks of the WCOOP remaining, giving Addamo plenty of time to add to his recent haul of prize money.

WCOOP title

Shaun Deeb further solidified his reputation as one of the most prolific online mixed game tournament players in the world this week as he added WCOOP title number 7 to his collection. Having missed the birth of his son three years ago to play the WCOOP, he won the $1,050 5-Card Draw High event that same evening. This year he took down the exact same event for over $25,000 including bounties, to add a seventh WCOOP win to his list of achievements.

Double WCOOP delight for China

In what was a glorious day for Chinese online poker, China collected its first and second WCOOP titles. The first of them came when “h280138” took down the WCOOP-11-H: $530 NLH Progressive KO $500K Guaranteed to collect $91,220 for the win, with $43,601 of that coming from bounties. h280138 had to defeat talented pro David Peters heads-up to win the title and bag the first ever WCOOP victory for a Chinese player. Little did h280138 know, they were only hours ahead of another Chinese player in claiming the accolade.

In a story which says a lot about perseverance, Chinese player “v587nt” broke a $70,000 downswing to win China’s second WCOOP title this week, collecting $62,673 in the process. v587nt topped a field of 2,461 to win the WCOOP-16-M: $215 NLHE 8-Max Turbo PKO and end a long run of bad form, winning China‘s second title of the series, and the day, in the process.

V587nt

In what is suddenly turning into a breakthrough series for Chinese players, v587nt collected the country’s second title just hours after their compatriot had won the first. The score was much needed for v587nt with the player having seen their $69,000 in profits up to the start of 2018 vanish in the months running up tho this series. Their graph had nosedived during the last year and a half, hitting the depths of -$8,000 before this WCOOP victory turned things around.
