Thailand’s Sorawit Suriyakarn wins WPT Vietnam Main Event for ₫3,856,400,000

On just his third ever live tournament, Thailand’s Sorawit Suriyakarn clinched the World Poker Tour (WPT) Vietnam Main Event for a career high payout of ₫3,856,400,000 (~$157,565) and a package to World Championship Season XXI worth $12,150!

“It’s pretty cool to win, I am so excited. This is just my third live tournament so I am very glad to have gone this far especially that there were many strong players. This win makes me love poker more. I am just a casual player, I have a normal job. But poker is getting to be really fun!”

When asked about his toughest moments, Suriyakarn said,

“At the final table when we were down to four-handed, three-handed, I don’t play those that often so that was tough and I needed to understand the card ranges that I should play. I just went with my gut and honestly I was getting lucky a lot too.”

When asked what brought him to WPT Vietnam, Suriyakarn shared,

“Me and some friends wanted to play poker. We saw this event had a good schedule and so we decided to come because it is also near Thailand. It was really fun, so many good players. from many different countries, not just the locals. And made some new friends too.”
