To the Asian sector, the historic city of Xi’an, China may not be one of the most well-known poker destinations but that may all change with the Silk Road Cup producing one of the largest events the county has seen this past week.

The third edition of the Silk Road Cup ran from July 19 to July 24 at the Xi‘an Baoyulin Poker Club attracting a massive 1,112 entries to the Main Event. Due to this, the CNY 1M guarantee was easily doubled to CNY 2,224,000 (~$328750). Expectedly, there were many familiar players in the mix, such as Wenling Gao, Lu Di, Ma Haisheng, and Wang Wei, but ultimately, it was Feng Dashuai overcoming the competition to seize the title and the CNY 400,000 (~$59,000) first prize.

Triumphing over a field of this size is something any winner will hold special. For Feng Dashuai, there were multiple reasons this impressive victory will stand out even more. Feng entered the final table with just four big blinds then went on to win it; he won the championship title in his home city Xi’An; and this now marks his second career Main Event victory having won the China Tour Hefei Main Event back in 2016.
