Paul Phua opens a training website endorsed by Ivey and Dwan
One of the most enigmatic figures of the current poker scene, Malaysian businessman Paul Phua’s passion for the game remains undiminished. Today’s revelation only serves to make that fact clearer than ever. Phua has just launched his own poker training site, which is namedwww.paulphuapoker.com
Paul Phua is among the world’s biggest losers at online poker with $4.6 million in losses recorded under the Nickname “MalACEsia”. Despite that, he has been a key figure in the biggest cash games in the world, hosted both in Macau and Manila. He has also enjoyed several tournament successes in live Super High Roller events where he has cashed for more than $4.5M.
Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey as ambassadors?
Interestingly, his training website benefits from the endorsement of both Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan.
In his testimonial on Paul Phua’s website, Phil Ivey claims that:
“Paul Phua is probably the best non-pro I’ve ever played poker against. And you can call him a “non-pro” only because he’s such a successful businessman too. He’s certainly better — maybe much better than a large percentage of professional players”.
Tom Dwan is even more involved in the content offered by the website as he stars in two videos called “Paul Phua in conversation with Tom Dwan”.
Both players have been regulars for years in the games pivoting around Paul Phua – so this endorsement is not entirely a surprise.
Content targeting beginners in the game
If advanced players are looking for strategies to beat Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey – they will be disappointed. Most of the videos so far provide extremely basic information starting with poker rules.
Expert eyes will recognise that all training videos have been recorded at Solaire Casino Manila. The venue has been host to the first three editions of the Triton Super High Roller Series, which saw Tom Dwan making a return.

Is Paul Phua the most interesting story in poker?
In addition to this training website, Paul Phua has also apparently unveiled a website (https://www.paulphua.com) that promises to soon unveil “a lot of interviews and articles on Paul Phua’s incredible life story”.
In the introduction to the website it is explained that: “Paul Phua has come out on top in some of the world’s biggest poker hands, winning millions of dollars. But his life story is just as interesting as his poker winnings”.
